Sorry to disagree but he looks exactly like my last dog which was a Silky! He is beautiful!!!!

Although I have seen several kinds of Morkies and they all looked different I'd say your guy looks more Yorkie than anything else. I am not real familiar with the Silky but I vote this guy is more Yorkie. Many Yorkies get lighter as they mature.

The dog in question is 6 years old, since the original post was in 2008....and he was 2 then.

I feel like an idiot, but I bought a Yorkie 5 years ago, and somebody just told me he is a Silkie!! Either way, he is my love, but I would like to know. he vet or groomer has never mentioned he is a Silkie

Can somebody give their opinion please? His photo is attached. And another thing. He is big, like almost 15 pounds. The people we bought him from said he would be 6 pounds!!!

he is gorgeous, he looks silky with a very strong yorkie trait, since inexperience breeders have been breeding silkies to yorkies and vice versa is getting harder and harder to keep the fine line between the breeds..
any ways he is adorable.. enjoy him...

There are so many people breeding these dogs that, as Carmen said, it is hard to say. There are people breeding some very large Yorkies so you can't say for sure just because of size. Since people are usually wanting a small Yorkie some breeders will say the puppy is going to be small when they know very well it will not. That is not always the case but it happens all to frequently.
He is adorable. That terrier personality is not for everyone but for those of us who fall for it......there is no going back!

Welcome to YT, my furson is half maltese/yorkie his ears stand up and sumx lay.down depending on if his hair is short.on his ears or not! But he looks like a yorkie but the parts that should b gold are beige, now yours can just be taking more of the yorkie features either way hes so cute! You can look into my photos as well to compare. Rome is only 9mo old though so his gray is still coming in goodluck

Your baby looks adorable and he actually looks like a purebred yorkie to me. If he has some maltese in him it must be very, very little. All of the pictures in your album are so sweet of your little boy.
