| Getting another yorkie O.K. I have 5 yorkies. one that is inside with me and 4 is in my kennel. I want to get another one that can stay inside with me. Out of my 5 yorkies, I have had one litter which was only 1 puppy. My other females have not had a heat yet. My question is would it be stupid to get another one or should I wait to see what happens with the ones I already have. I have done plenty of research and have a breeder that I call all the time that is very helpful. I want to breed but nothing has happened yet. My female that is inside with me is the love of my life and she feels the same about me. I love the ones I keep in the kennel but they have not been raised inside and they seem to get along great the way they are. They spend time in the house every week when I groom and bathe them but are not housebroken and always have accidents so I think it would be too late to try and train one now. Any thoughts?

| I would try to train them... It is never to late for that. It might take a little longer then a puppy but it will work. |

| I agree with the above poster. Love and patience works wonders. You need to think that your breeding yorkies won't be breeding for the rest of their lives and if you don't make them pet quality what is going to become of them once those days are over? The more you put into them now the better quality of life they will have later on in thier life.

| I agree to some point. I don't agree on having 5 dogs in my house but I do think that I should bring one or 2 in. I have one that does not get along with the female in the house. She wants to fight her. Not all yorkies get along. They will kill each other if not watched closely.

| You are right. I believe that the 2 boys will be the hardest. Any suggestions?

| I just think that all dogs belong in the house...Espeically tiny little yorkies. My mothers family thinks that dogs belong outside..Whats the joy of having them if you cant wake up with them in the morning and get yorkie kisses...then again, I have never been a breeder and I have only had them for pets. I understand that you dont want them to hurt each other if they dont get along. Last edited by YorkieMom2; 08-17-2005 at 09:35 AM. |

| I completely agree with everyone else, that you should try and housebreak them. But why weren't they housebroken in the first place? I don't think it would be right to bring another yorkie home when you already have 4 others in the kennel. I don't really think that they are kennel type dogs to begin with.

| I have 10 yorkies, and every one of them lives in my house with us. I do have one that always wants to fight, but I just keep her away from the ones she wants to fight. I show some of mine, and some are pets only, but they are all family. |

| Most breeders keep their dogs in kennels. My has heat and air and pet doors to go outside whenever they want. And as I said before they do come inside from time to time. I wouldn't mind having them in my house but my husband would throw a fit. And as all of you well know, yorkies are not the easiest dogs to housetrain. But I am going to take your advice and try it. I think I will do one at a time. I wonder how long that will take.

| O.K. I am going to try it. Any suggestions on how? It is hard to watch all of them at one time. I had all of them in yesterday and had them gated in my dining room. They weren't in there an hour and there was 3 puddles in there. So what do I do?

| Mine are still puppies and we are having a hard time housetraining, but I need to give it a lot more time...However, I am going to get them belly bands for when they are at my mothers or sisters...I certainly dont want them peeing in their house...Maybe that would work while you are trying to train them to be house dogs... Tell your husband that the YT goup said he better move on over cuz 5 more yorkies are coming in...... |
