| 7 months - growth spurt? I noticed Mocha is getting "bigger". I checked her ribs, she's not fatter, but she definitely seems more husky than about a week or two ago. I don't have scales with smaller measurement units than kg.. we don't bake, so none of those things either The result is I cannot tell if she has gained ounces or not. Is it possible for yorkie to have such growth spurts around this time? Always, thanks for the help.

| Has Mocha been in heat yet? It seems to be quite common to have one last growth spurt after the first heat in females. Both of mine had growth spurts after their first heats. They both came in to heat for the first time at exactly 13 months of age. My oldest yorkie almost doubled her weight after it (not literally, but from 4lbs to around 6lbs). My youngest has not gained that much (as of yet) but has widened her ribcage etc.

| Emma had a growth spurt around 7-12 months of age. She went from 2.9 lbs to just above 4 lbs, and since 2 she has been steady at almost 4.5 lbs

| No she hasn't had her 1st heat. The last time I weighed her correctly was at my neighbor's house, she weighed about 4.4lbs at 5 and 1/2 months, and she hasn't grown since. Now she's 7 months. She can get as big as she likes I was just wondering if I should expect a growth spurt and such. Her mother was not very big.. not much bigger than Mocha now. Are you guys saying Mocha will double in weight? Again, not worried, but that is quite alarming Speaking about heat, should I spay her before or after her 1st heat? Initially I thought to do this when she turns exactly 12 months, but when did you guys do it? Again, thank you sincerely for any help

| We had a big growth spurt right at 7 months as well.... none of her clothes fit anymore I sure was not expecting it either... The kids when they came to visit noticed it... I see her all the time so did not see it. Maybe this is normal at this age. Now need to save for some new outfits... Watching closely for a YT closet sale .. here's hoping!! Cheryl & Mandy in the cool cool north!

My oldest was the exception. When she was a puppy, we predicted her to be around 6-7 lbs as and adult (looking at her parents, lines and puppy weights), but even though she ate like a maniac she wouldn't gain any dramatic amount of weight for the first year. Until her heat that is, and that's why the change was so drastic. That being said my second one is from the same mother and has my oldest ones grandfather as a father (phew, half-sibling and aunt at the same time to her big sis..) and she's only about 4lbs. But she didn't have the same weights or bonestructure as my oldest while she was still growing so I doubt she'll double. If she did double however, it would unfortunately probably have to be sideways sooner than length/height-wise..

Buying expensive outer-wear (for winter) for my oldest during her first winter wasn't my best choice either. "Luckily" (to soothe my spending-conscience that is..) my youngest can wear the coats now.
