| bev Hi I am new to this site, but I would like some advise I have a very small Yorkie who is now one years old, he is a very fussy eater & I get worried he is not getting enough nutrients or food as he is really thin. He has plenty of energy though. At present I put down butchers choice in the morning & evening & leave out dried food in the day, some days he will eat the wet food & others he wont, I have tried putting it down & then taking it away & not feeding him anything else till the next feed & that still dosent work, if i give him chicken he will scoff the lot, but he cant just live off chicken surely Can anyone help? Many thanks |

| Boo is a picky eater too. Since we got Gracie, who eats very well, Boo is much better. It's sort of the competition thing, Boo has to eat so that Gracie doesn't get it all. We free feed dry kibble, they have it available to them all day. But I find that although Gracie will eat a bit here and there all day, that when she does eat in the evening that's when Boo seems to really be interested in 'hogging' the bowl and eating a good size meal. So my suggestion would be to get a 2nd Yorkie to help your first one eat better.

| I agree completely with TeresaM. Cash used to be very fussy eater until I started looking after my sister's labrador (who eats very quickly and like a garbage disposal). Now Cash will eat his food (I don't free feed) when I feed them and although he is slower, he finishes everything eventually. But I have another tip for you. Try to get a supplement (I use Nutureline's Show Dog) to put on the food. It helps them gain a little weight and makes sure that they get all the necessary nutrients and it is wonderful for their coats. So, even if you feed your baby chicken (mix it with some dry food for his teeth), you can mix the supplement into the food and he will get all the needed nutrients. I hope this helps.
