Donating YT Addict | traveling question? I was just wondering how old your yorkie was when you started taking him places. I took Tyke to the vet for his vaccine this past Monday and I'm not sure if he was sick from riding or because the vet gave him worm med. and he threw it up in the carrier. Or maybe I need to wait til he's older for going to different places like my daughter wanted so bad to take him to Petsmart today, but I told her no. Last night I was going to go get some food at Sonic where my daughter works and come back hom, well I got in the truck and was holding him, I cranked it and he started shaking like he was so nervous....( but my daughter said he might have thought I was taking him back to the vet..) So I took him back inside and didn't want to upset him. He's 16 weeks old now. So should I wait or what ? thanks for any input

We got him a car seat that secures in the back seat just like a baby seat and using his harness he is secured in the car seat. In February we got T-boned on the freeway due to ice on the road and ended up in the meridian. General Lee did not get tossed around and was fine. Since then we have taken him on many trips some as long at 6 hours one way and he has not gotten sick once. Good Luck | |

| I have always brought Tucker everywhere. Sometimes he gets shaky but its usually on the way to the vet. Its funny how he can sense when we go there. He was about 9 months when we went out to wyoming which was a long ride from minnesota. He did pretty good though, I was impressed. Every dog is different though.

YT 500 Club Member | We got Sophie at about 12 weeks, and we have taken her everywhere ever since, vacations, etc. She gets very excited when we ask her if she wants to go for a ride in the car. She also loves to go to the vet and even knows when we are getting close. She gets excited. She does not like being at my daughter's house because of her two dogs. But she loves the ride there (to Minneapolis). One thing we have noticed is that she pants when she rides in the car, even when she has the air conditioner blowing right on her. I don't know if it is nerves or what, but she always wants to go!

Donating YT Addict | thanks for your ideas....maybe i should give it another chance and see what happens. I do have to take him back to the vet in 2 weeks, but i should take him somewhere else, so he doesn't think every time he gets in a car he's going to the vet.....

| We have been traveling with Toto since we brought her home at 16 weeks. First week we had her, we went to Texas to pick up our travel trailer at the factory and then drove the coast through Louisiana, Florida and back to Alabama. We put about 2500 miles on her and she has been traveling ever since [five years] ... she especially loves to fly! The only precaution ... don't have your baby in crowds or let strangers touch him until he is finished with all his shots. Good luck and don't be afraid to take him out. Make sure that he is cool/warm ... if you're comfortable, he's comfortable!
