Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Sailor almost gave me a heart attack!!! This afternoon me and the girls got bored around the house, so I decide maybe we should take a walk...normally me and my mom go together after work so we each have an eye on a dog...but I decided to try it on my own...well I learned my lesson quickly!! The girls started off great...they were walking side by side and moving right along...I decided to walk down to the second street (normally we only walk one block) since they were doing so good...wrong...by the time we turned to come back home they were tired...so Sailor decided to lay down and protest...I pulled gently on her leash and ask her to come...but she still protested and before I knew it she had gotten her harness off and was running...I freaked out and of course started chasing her...wrong again...this just made her run more...luckily we were near a big field and she was just running around in it and not near the street...I happened to have taken my cell phone with me and knew my mom was on her way home so I called her and she was pulling into the neighborhood...so I tried to corner her as much as I could while my mom showed up...this whole time Magic is refusing to move, which is making things twice as difficult...just as I thought all hope was lost, my mom showed up and Sailor went running towards her...I was so grantful that we survived that situation without any harm!! We were right near a big street and just prayed she wouldn't head that way...but she is now safe INSIDE the house... I almost had a heart attack during all this but am so glad that everything turned out okay in the end!! On the way home, Magic was "correcting" her sister and letting her know that running away was NOT okay!! What a night!!

| I'm so glad they are ok. Tucker is a little genius at escaping from his harness. I still don't see how he does it. One minute it's on him and the next it's not. Scary little critters.

| ! I know how you feel. Pippa got away one time when she was about 7 months old-ran out of the house and straight into the street. We live in a busy University neighborhood. My heart was beating out of my chest and I'm almost screaming at her to come back. Of course she thought it was a game and was darting around IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET! I was nearly having a heart attack-and for sure I was having a Panic attack. She must have thought, "I'm not going back to that wild-eyed mommie!" Everytime I went toward her, she would run. Thankfully when a car came, she stopped and waited for me to catch Pippa. Thank goodness it wasn't one of those people that come roaring down the street fast!. Since then we've taken Miss Thing to obedience classes and work with her at home. She's pretty good with coming when called now and seems to be a little more mature about not getting in the street. I'm working on the "drop" command with her and plan on doing the same with Scout. It can save their life! I'm glad disaster didn't strike with Sailor!!
