How to stop chewing on carpet??

Coral has started chewing on the carpet on the dog stairs. She has pulled so much off!

Does anyone know of a remedy to stop this? I prefer home remedies versus having to buy ANOTHER product from the pet store.

I was having the same problem with Phantom & Brandi (who will be turning 1 year old on Halloween). I took the carpet covering right off the stairs to be washed, and I noticed that they left the stairs alone without the carpeting. So, I left it off a little longer, and by the time I put it back, they seemed to have lost interest in it. The sprays didn't work for me.

Since Reggie decided my wall to wall carpet was excellent for shredding I took black pepper and liberally sprinkled it at that spot in the carpet. It worked....didn't hurt him and was easily vaccumed up later.

Sadie loves to yank up the carpetting on my area rugs too. I have a small hole on the rug in my bathroom and she started working on my area rug in the living room. I just tell her "NO SADIE" when she does it and she stops. I havent seen her go back to it yet. She is 5 1/2 months old so teaching her now is critical to how she will behave as she ages.

Melody learn that from Shayna, but I got them in the act and I told them NO very firm and keep my eye on then, and they haven't done it since, but I still keep my eyes on them, have you try the water bottle like some people here do? hope you find the solution soon

When I first read that I thought you said pepper spray!

I'm going to try the pepper and see how that works.

I wish I could do that but the carpet is glued to them. I keep them covered with a towel but there is a little entrance on the side (so they can go inside and play) and she goes in there and chews on the carpet and you can't see what she is doing.
