| I let Pixie off Leash for the 1st time today! This was such a big deal for me! Pixie is coming up to 16 months old and a tiny 3lbs so i'm overly protective of her naturally My son and I have a favourite walk near our home that is a track across farmland..it is quite remote and you hardly ever see other dogs..so I unclipped the leash from her harness and let her run free for a while...she didn't stray too far..and when I call my staffy, Bruce, back to me she would follow right behind him..I was sooooo nervous! I kept saying to my son: 'I can't believe i'm doing this!' but it was lovely to see her running free alongside Bruce...everywhere he went she would follow him...she doesn't come straight back to me when called, but she stops and stands still when I call her name and I just clip her leash back on...I wouldn't risk it anywhere else right now..especially in places where there are lots of other dogs, but this place is quite safe and open so you can see for miles...It's supposed to be a lovely weekend here so I think I may take her there again tomorrow with my hubby and show him how good she was!

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Oh Keeza I know exactly how you feel. I'm a nervous wreck to let Izzy off leash and only have done that when we are within closed walls or yard. I am always afraid she is going to take off running and not come back.lol. I'm going to try and start some agility training to see if she likes that and that should help too since all those exercises are done off leash. Congrats Princess Pixie!!

| How cute!!!! I taught my Daizy to "COME" when I call....so I can let her walk with me...and be off leash alot of the time.. Of course most little yorkies follow their noses alot....but it helps that she is trained...I started working with her in the house....so that she minds me outside too.

| We've just started this with Hot Rod. When we are in our yard, we'll take the leash off and we'll call him to come in. He may take his time, but as soon as we round the corner, he comes running after us. We've been able to take him out for his last one of the night without a leash. He comes bouncing back up the deck and into the house as soon as he is done. Of course we are right there with him too. Isn't it wonderful!

| If I take her back there tomorrow i'll take my camera and post some pictures..i'll also take treats and work on that COME when called! She was sooo good though...better than I thought she would be..she didn't seem to make a big fuss out of the fact that she was off leash..she acted like she did it everyday!
