Hello! I am finally settled down from my little adventure today to pick up Desmond. He is adorable beyond words. This adoption was in the works since J&J posted it at the end of last week. I called but was told he already had 5 applications so I figured that he would be adopted out to a good family. Well to make a long story short, things didn't quite work and I got the call this morning that I could come and take a look at him. I figured that I could just jump into my car and take the hour ride over to IN and meet him. With all of the rain that we have had it actually turned into 3 1/2 hours:eek: But he is well worth it! I got to meet J&J sister who was wonderful and ran the most well kept shelter that I have even been inside! I took one look at this sweet boy and new he was coming home with me! He looked like a pitiful little orphan, all matted but very excited. We believe he might have an issue with his legs (luxating patella maybe) but I will cross that bridge when we see the vet. Jane was a fantastic and very kind person that I could tell genuinely cared for all of these animals! There should be more people like her and this world would be a better place. One my way home, I stopped at Petco in Merriville IN to pick up a bag of dog food. Desmonds nails were so long and curled that I decided to see if they could give him a quick nail trim. Not only did the trim him nails but Dee clipped a few mats off his hind legs. As I was going back to pick up the food, I was stopped by a nice woman that told me what a beautiful dog I had and I told her the story of how I got him. She then said she worked in the grooming department and asked his she could "clean him up a little". I was shocked that she offered this to me and she started to CRY and said that it was wonderful that I took in a rescue. Then I started to CRY and now we are both bawling out eyes out in the middle of the store. She trimmed him a little more around the face and cat a bunch of mats off his legs and tied a bandana around his neck. She handed him back to me and gave me a hug! It was soooooooo sweet! So we got home and everyone is getting along very nicely! Doodlebug LOVES his new brother and Pebbles~lets just say she is being Pebbles! Right now he is laying on my lap sleeping. I think this is going to work out pretty well! Thank you again J & J and WisIndygirl you are both the best!:) |

Desmond has a new name! My new little lovebug is now know as Bogey! He is just breaking my heart, I don't know what this little guy has been through but he is not house broken, had no idea what stairs where, looked at me like I was nuts when I was handing out treats to Pebbles and Doodlebug, and the saddest part of all is that he doesn't know what to do with toys. :cry8: I spent most of the night yesterday clipping all the mats off his legs and chest. He loves to be brushes and combed so for him to look this way is just very sad. We went to the vet today and looks like he does have luxating patella grade 1in both legs. :( The vet feels that it is not severe enough for surgery and wants to continue to monitor him. Yeah! He also checked his teeth and we both got a pretty good look inside his mouth and only saw 1 puppy tooth that will come out during his neuter on October 6th. Finally, he was able to feel his undecended testicle which is also good news! All in all he said he's got a clean bill of health. A few minor adjustments and he will be just about perfect. He really is a little peanut and weighed in at a whopping 5.21 lbs. Now if I could just get some pictures:rolleyes: Thank you everyone for all the nice comments. I would like to thank J & J and her sis for everything! |

Bogey Rocks! Jodie I love his new name. Glad to hear the news that the vet went well. So sad though that he didn't know how to play or get treats. Makes you wonder where he has been...what kind of a life did he have. How old is he? He sure is in a better place now. How lucky for him that you found him. Gosh my heart just melts to know he is with you. Sis will be happy to hear the news. If only there were more people like you out there to place all her animals with. We are still waiting for pictures though!!! |

Hey Jodi, well what a night and day you have had! Poor little guy but I truly believe he was meant for you and I love his new name, it fits! It really makes me wonder where he came from since he did not know what toys and treats were but I know that will change........Sorry to hear about his patellas, but I think we figured as much. Pictures????????Thanks again. Jane:animal36 |
