				   | My husband received military orders to be stationed back home in Hawaii. This is the first time we've brought a dog from the Mainland to the islands, so we weren't aware of the regulations Hawaii has on out-of-state pets. Supposedly, we were supposed to meet specific standards pertaining to additional rabies requirements (blood test meeting a minimal of 120 days) Long story short, we were not able to do this prior to our move - because not only were we not aware, but if you are familiar with the military - they give you a specified timeframe in which to move to your next duty station. The 120 days blood test would not be realistic to meet. I'm so sad that my Bronzee Bear is now confined in the Hawaii Dept of Agriculture (for quarantine). I won't be able to have him for 4 months ![]() They do give us visitation privileges at the site, but it still isn't the same as having him home. And everytime we part ( ),it's heartbreak all over again it's heartbreak all over again

| Donating YT 10K Club Member | Oh I'm so sorry....that's awful. This is probably a moot point now...but you said 120 days minimum on the blood test. That would've only meant the test couldn't be over 6 months ago...

				   | My sister has gone through this with 2 dogs and yes the blood test takes 120 days. That is a sucky time for him to be in quarantine. Can't someone foster him here on the mainland for while waiting for the results That's what my sister did, she had my Mom watch her girls while waiting... |

				   | Oh my gosh...I'm so sorry!! Just start counting down the days until you get your baby back. That's a great suggestion, TLC!

Yes, that's what I had thought too. But when I called Hawaii's Animal Quarantine facility, they informed me that the blood test they needed was unique - and the one I had would not suffice. Quote:
Unfortunately, I don't have much relatives in the Mainland =/ Those I do have would not have been able to have him for that period of time, though. Thank you all for the replies! I appreciate it <33

				   | When do you have to leave? If I were you, I would get to the Vet today and get that Blood Test taken and get the ball rolling, b/c that may cut some time down that he has to stay in the Honolulu Quarantine.... |

				   | I don't know if this will be any help, but when my dad and stepmom first moved over there, they had to have their cats in quarantine for that long too, but they let them be in quarantine at their (or A) vet's instead of the quarantine station. Of course, cats aren't Yorkies, so I know it's really hard on you. It's a shame that you're having a tough time b/c they've relaxed the regulations some since my folks moved there. Good luck to you, I hope the time goes by really quickly for you all!

				   | Thank you all for the feedback & kind words! I truly appreciate each and every one of your input. I'm actually already in Hawaii. We've been on the island for about a week now... and my Bronzee Bear's been in quarantine since the day we landed =*( It's been really difficult, not only for my husband, daughter, and I - but especially for my little yorkie boy. Whenever we visit him, he gets overly excited - thinking that we're taking him home with us. I know he gets crushed every time we leave after our visitation session is over. It must be so additionally tough, because he's in an environment that he isn't familiar of.

				   | We were posted to Cyprus from uk a number of years ago and were able to have our golden lab in house/yard quarantine for 4 months so that was good unfortunately when we returned to uk he had to go into authority quarantine. |
