Pedi Paws at Bed Bath & Beyond! Hey everyone, I got the Pedi Paws grinder at Bed Bath and Beyond today! It was $19.99. It came with 3 extra sanding tubes. There were quite a few of them. I asked the cashier if anyone has said whether they liked it and she said that she has not heard from anyone but they have sold a lot of them. They also have large collaspsible crates in tan and blue & grey for $19.99. I picked up a tan one just to have on hand for whatever reason. I used my coupons too! I love Bed Bath & Beyond!!!: Puppy2: |
Ooooooo, really? :D Okay, so tell me, how is it? Is it well made? Does it work? I was just on the verge of ordering the Peticure brand online today (didn't finish the sale yet), so I am really curious to know about the Pedicure; which is $10 cheaper & less shipping charges. So, do tell please. I will definitely be going to our B B & B tomorrow to see if they have it there. |

I'm looking forward to seeing how it works too. |
Not to sound silly, but what is it? |

Here's a link; it's a "better" way to trim dogs nails by filing them rather than clipping. |
Please let us know how it works! :p |
On the other forum I frequent, everyone was complaining about them. They said they are loud and scare the dogs. And dont work as well as the regular grinding tools. I like a regular dremel. You can get them or the like on petedge for 19.99. I LOVE IT! But it does make a buzzing sound. |

I just pictured me grabbing him as he is trying to run away hiding his paws! |
I'm going to try it tomorrow in the daylight. I have let them sniff at it to get used to it. I also put it on the floor so they can walk around it. Maggie has tried to eat it so far.:p It sounds like an electric razor when you turn it on. It takes 2 "C" batteries. Stay tuned and I'll let you all know what they think of it. |
I just told my dtr where you found it. She works at linens and things. she said if bb and b has them they should have them soon. She has been thinking of getting one for her yorkie and doxie. |

I don't have any experience with a pedi paw, but i'm guessing it should be close if it has 2 speeds. Either way, it is so much easier then using clippers, once they get used to you doing it. Just start out slow, taking only a little off each time. |
dremel If it works like the dremel, you will want to be very careful. If the puppy is wiggly and you accidently touch its hair, the hair can wind around it and pull the hair out. Someone told me to use a old pair of panty hose and put their foot in so that the toenails stick out and then grind--that way the hair on the legs wont get caught. I havent ried this yet, but it sounds like it would be work. |

Thank you for this information. |
Nail Grinder Hey All! Just from my personal viewpoint, I love the Peticure... I got it when it 1st came out, so I don't know what the other models do, I can only say it was a lifesaver... It's hard to imagine that with my 5-pounder, it would actually take TWO of us to hold her still while using the old clippers! Now, she has a little bit of apprehension as I do the grinding, but she pretty much goes along with it! 100 times better that the clipping! I would recommend just doing a little bit on each nail, in the beginning, until they get used to it! now Jilli's nails are always at a healthy length (which is important)... it was 29.00, as you say, but we did get about 10 extra grinding tubes with it! so, your decision!-) Good luck, best regards, rick n jilli dog |

I bought the Peticure, but my girls hate it!!!!!! They do NOT want anything near their feet. Nada. So, I think if your Pup doesn't mind you trying to clip, then they won't mind the Peticure either. But, if they are squeamish about you messin' with their toes...they won't be happy! |
My story is this: First I just took them to a groomer to have their nails cut till he retired and left his business to his druggie son who really hurt Azrael. Then I bought a doggie dremmel and caught Zada's hair in it and pulled a big piece out. The nylons didn't work. Then I bought the heavy duty emery boards and just filed them each week after their bath. This was hard on them as it takes awhile to do. Then I went to my Vets. 23 miles away. They are so wonderful with the girls and never a yelp from getting too close. Gas prices go up and I'm lost again, so I go to a local dog groomer who at the first visit made Razael yelp. The next visit I did not hear a word from her but she was in back a bit too long in my opinion. When he brought her out I put her down and gave him the next dog. When he came back he said Razael is bleeding all over the carpet. He had a very difficult time getting the bleeding to stop. Mentally I swore I was not going to take them to anymore groomers so I ordered the Peticure and am still waiting, but hopefully the wait will be well worth it. End of story. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I actually bought Pedi Paws few days ago when I was visiting my boyfriend's parents in PA. I got it in the mall. I didnt use it yet. :) |
My story is this: First I just took them to a groomer to have their nails cut till he retired and left his business to his druggie son who really hurt Azrael. Then I bought the Oster Pet Nail Groomer 2 speed that said light and easy to use. (It's heavy)!! and caught Zada's hair in it and pulled a big piece out. The nylons didn't work. Then I bought the heavy duty emery boards and just filed them each week after their bath. This was hard on them as it takes awhile to do. Then I went to my Vets. 23 miles away. When he came back he said Razael is bleeding all over the carpet. He had a very difficult time getting the bleeding to stop. (I'm still wondering why I didn't hear her yell because she is very touchy that way and yells easily) Mentally I swore I was not going to take them to anymore groomers so I ordered the Peticure and am still waiting, but hopefully the wait will be well worth it. End of story. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I'm glad I saw this thread! I just ordered this on Monday and called back and canceled it. No sense spending and extra $8 on shipping and waiting 4-6 weeks when I can buy it at the store! I'm so happy I was able to cancel it. Thanks again! |
Update on Pedipaws Okay, they were both a little freaked when I put the device up to their paws...Maggie more than Hot Rod since Maggie has never really been professional groomed. I followed the instructions about giving them treats to get them used to it and it seemed to help quite a bit. I've been able to actually put the device on their nail (without it running). They still pull back but not totally freaked out. I will continue to do this until they do not pull back. The instructions tell you to do this even it takes a few days. Smart. I don't think that they are afraid of the noise...not loud at all, just like an electric razor but that it is something new. I can't imagine the hair getting caught but I have not done it yet. Someone suggestion using nylons to hold the hair back, I've got a lingerie bag the I am going to try...it has larger holes for the nails to go thru--picked these up at Dollar tree-3 for $1.00. I will continue to update...stay tuned.:D by the way...it was $19.99 at Bed Bath & Beyond, plus 20% coupon and no shipping. I really like them because they have a great return policy-if you don't like something or if it is defective, they will take it back or exchange it, no problem-at least mine has never had a problem doing this. |
Well, I just got back from the Bed, Bath, & Beyond here in town. They did have the Pedi Paws there, but after seeing that it took regular "C" batteries to run it, I decided to go with the Peticure product instead. I would prefer to pay the extra money for the Peticure for the convenience of it being rechargable. Other than the battery difference, the Pedi Paws looks just like the Peticure (from what I could see), so I assume it would work just as well too. Curious to know if anyone knows of any other differences...in style, effectivness, etc., between the two. |
I went to Walmart and bought a manicure set. It came with all the little attachments and was like $24.99 I think. It was rechargable and it had the dremel tool. It seemed pretty powerful when I got it all charged. I tried it on Doodlebug but he freaked so I packed it up and took it back. Now I'm wondering if maybe I should have kept it and tried a little harder. The only draw back was when the file wear down I'm not sure where you could find a replacement. |
I have just the regular dremel that I ordered about a yr. ago from either Foster & Smith or Care-A-Lot. I can't remember which. Mandy was the one I was concerned about. I just had never used it and then yesterday I got it out and decided to try it on her. Believe it or not she actually laid on the couch and let me do her nails. I think I paid like 49.00 for it but several things comes with it and its really not that loud. Better than cutting. I am so afraid of getting down in the quick. |
