| Breeding is a great hobby, but as a job....not so much. There are lot's of people that have the same thoughts you have but many don't have the maturity and presence of mind to ask questions and think it through first. Good form

| I agree with the advice given. Before I ever came to yorkie talk, I got my Triss from a well meaning hobby breeder. I personally thought she was a good breeder. The dogs were well cared for, behaved, standard size and color. A good visual representation of the breed. The pups were very socialized and friendly. Of course, at the time, I never knew to ask her about getting her dogs tested for things they could pass on to their puppies. Turns out, the breeder, unknowingly is passing on a hereditary disease where the hip joint breaks down. My puppy needs a $500 surgery now to remove the ball joint in her hip. Luckily, I am still under her 6 month health guarantee so she will have to foot the bill. There is just so much to breeding that I never knew about. I think that this job should be in the hands of the very few special people who have the talent and strength for it.

| Ahhh Bless your heart, you took all of that really well- Bravo! I would start with a new puppy and see where life takes you. After a LOT of reading and learning and if it is still something you are passionate about then perhaps one day your passion may make you a great breeder.

| breeding Well, there are jobs out there that involve working with dogs. Don't know what age you are, but you might become a vet or vet tech or work with dogs in some other way. Glad to see you took all the great advice to heart. I've had litters of puppies and it's very expensive and time consuming. Loved them and having them, but you don't make any money doing it unless it's on a very big scale and you have tons of money and time to invest at the start. Nothing to keep you from getting an adorable Yorkie puppy though and enjoying that!!! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It's so weird you find someone who asks that question, and actually reads the answers, and doesn't get defensive and tell us all off, and then you think, "Oh, wait maybe YOU would be a good breeder." To me, that's kind of like the first step, of being a good breeder.
