First of all...Welcome to this yorkie family!! I am so glad that you have decided to do your research on Yorkies before you run out and buy one...you have to be carefully to not buy from puppymills or pet stores...

Now, I have to agree with everyone that it depends on where you live on how much they cost...around here they start around $700 and go up to about $1500...but they are worth every penny that you pay for them...

Keep us updated on what you decide to do!!

I sent you a private message about our upcoming meetup here where you could see a whole bunch of cute yorkies in person and find out about local breeders.

You are so smart to do your homework ahead of time and get what you want from the beginning.

Prices in California and Southern California in particular can be high compared to the rest of the country. They start at $1200 and go up to $5000 with the rare "micro-minis" (my term for the super tinies) going for as much as $7500-$8000, but inexoerienced yorkie owners wouldn't want a micro-mini (under 3 lbs as an adult)

Everything in California is way over priced

, i see that it also carries over into the pet world as well.

Welcome to YT! Question for you.....is your girlfriend set on a puppy or is a rescue something to consider? I'm glad you are doing research, that is very smart of you to educate yourself before jumping out and getting a pet! Good Job! Welcome again!

You mean something like at a shelter or adoption?? Im not exactly sure, I think she is set on buying a puppy so she can watch it grow... but this is just me guessing.

Awww. How CUTE that you are looking into this for your girlfriend! HOW sweet that you found this site and are checking into it for your girlfriend! And kudos to you for doing your research! Too many people do not research and then wonder why they have a Yorkie who is hyper and needy.

I bet someone in Cali can help you out with what an average price is. Whatever the price is, you don't want the lowest price on the scale, but you don't need the highest either.

I am in Indiana (so that's a whole different world), but Baxter was $650 and Chloe was $800. Here the low is like $250 and the high is around $1,100.

Personally, I've seen most in the $1500-$2000 range. I guess it depends where you by it from and where you live.

If you are not a dog lover now...you will soon be! Those little yorkies have a way of getting into your heart REAL fast! Trust me...

In my town, males are going for $700-800 for standard and up to $900 for smaller. Females start at $1000 and go up to $1500. I sold a pup that went to California. Even with the buyer flying to Houston, it was still cheaper that to get one in Cali.

As they said Welcome... First you have the best weather in the world. We lived in Escondido for 4 years. Here in Indiana they go any where from 600-up with 250.00 shipping charges which includes crate, vet certi. ticket. Some people ship some don't. Nice to have you here.
