| My baby sleeps a lot, Is this normal? Hello to everyone, I am new to yorkietalk, and have a new baby. Zeke is 10 weeks old, and I got him 6 days ago. I know he is a baby, but he sleeps quite a bit. I know I'm lucky, he usually wakes up all night to be held, but last night I was worried because he slept from 10pm until 5am this morning. The night before he slept from 10pm to 3am, then he slept on my chest until 6am. During the day, he's up for an hour, and sleeps for 2. He weighs under a pound. I just don't know whats normal for a yorkie. Thanks so much! |

| WELCOME TO YORKIETALK TO YOU AND ZEKE Welcome to YorkieTalk. I am so glad you joined our growing community. Ten week old puppies DO sleep alot. They eat and drink, poop and pee and then play until they collapse to sleep - then they start all over again. The big question would be when Zeke is awake how is his activity level? Is he playful, is he eating and drinking, peeing and pooping? If so it sounds like he is a perfectly normal little Yorkie. Last edited by chattiesmom; 09-06-2008 at 06:36 AM. | Yes, puppies need lots of sleep. I am surprised your breeder let one so young and so small go already.

| Sounds COMPLETELY normal... Up for 1 and down for 2.... As long as he is eating and drinking normally, sounds like you have absolutly nothing to worry about!! Don't worry, we ALL freak out over our babies!!! Especially when we first brought them home!! But under 1lb?? Thats VERY small, for 10 weeks..... (not trying to scare you) Congrats on your new arrival and....

| to YT. You've come to the right place for answers. As long as he's playing, eating and doing what comes naturally when he's awake I wouldn't worry to much about his sleeping habits. It will all change shortly.

| Thank You! Thank you so much for all of your answers and for the welcome! He is eatting, not as much as Id like, but he eats here and there. He is drinking, going potty, and when he is up, he plays for awhile, then wants to sleep. He loves to be held. If we are sitting on the floor he jumps on our laps, and cuddles. He is a little angel. |
