| I am new and wanted to say hi and thank you I had listed my Yorkie on craigslist to rehome and I got an email from a member here telling me about all of you. I had a whole lot going on and just thought it best to find him a new home. I have since came to my senses and will be keeping him. I have done a lot of reading since pointed here ( thanks DONNADEE) I am looking foward to getting to know all of you and Tango and I will be here for the long haul. I don't know why I never thought to look for a yorkie forum since I keep koi ponds and am a member of a few forums for that and have made many friends in doing so , I hope to do the same here. To tell you a little about me I have been married to my wonderful husband 23 years, we have two kids well shall I say young adults and the most wonderful seven month old granddaughter in the world. We haveTango, one cat who is named lexy and about 30 koi that range from 4 inches to 24 inches. I love Nascar racing, sewing , Antiques and koi shows. |

| Well it was but we are far from that at the moment. The vet said he has food allergies but after reading all the info here I think it may be more than that.Nothing we have done has worked and he just keep loosing hair and lots of it. I have tried so much I think I will try a dip next and see if that helps. What was strange is several months ago I took him to a groomer instead of me doing his cut and I noticed a few days later he started chewing his paws, it then progressed to other parts of his body. Its just one big mess and he can not keep a clean smell. I am hoping you all can help me get him back to where he needs to be. The vet is no help and he just is not getting better. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm, this statement makes me suspect a yeast infection possibly. Has the vet done a simple skin scraping to test for yeast and mange? It's very simple and usually only $20-30. If he's losing hair, it's probably something to have done. Does it smell kind of sour or ?

| I am new, too. My older male,Dude has TERRIBLE allergies and we fight them all the time. I could never give him up,though. The Vet did put him on a special food made just for allergies. He loves it. Our new pup loves it,too. It has helped alot, although sometimes he still has to have some steroids to help more. We also checked his thyroid and it was low,so he is on meds for that as it can also influence the skin. We quit keeping count of the cost of Vet bills(LOL).We just call him the 6 million dollar dog and know that we are in it for the long haul cause he is part of the family. I only hope my new little girl doesn't have allergies because they do make him miserable.Hang in there and keep on loving Tango.....I believe love always helps in anything! |

| Just another thought........since it happened after the grooming.like I said....I am new here so someone may have already suggested this, but could it possibly be a staph infection ? I know sometimes, skin infections can occur from the groomers clippers or a razor burn.........anyway,just a thought. |

| Hi there and welcome to YT. Tango is a handsome boy ! i am glad you decided to keep him and work out his health problems. It needs to be further investigated as to why he's losing so much hair. A sking scraping is the ideal way to rule out common, possible, causes. I wish Tango the best, and keep us updated on his progess. Thanks.
