Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | INSTINCTS??? or goofballs Okay we all talk about the quirky lil things our yorkies do....some SO odd that new yorkie owners post WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY YORKIE???? IS HE/SHE GOING TO BE OKAY??? We all have had a giggle from it. So whats the quirky lil things your yorkie does and do you know WHY they do it. I dont mean a learned behavior like not eating in bowl...I mean the GoOfY stuff we see. So i will start with my list Bella and Diggy BOTH have to sit their bully/flossy on our feet to chew them. or be in your lap. WHY????? My dad says its an instint to share their kill with the "pack" so essentially they are sharing with us??? BOTH dig and dig and dig before they lay down. WHY???? BOTH buck after they pee or poop...i read its to spread their scent not sure tho. Bella bucks so hard the grass she rips out flips all the way around onto her back... Bella is of course a lil girl, Why does she hike her leg???? Is she showing dominance?? She did it before Diggy was in the pic so I cant blame him. Why do they roll on dead animals or SMELLY things??? its so gross.... Diggy hides his stuff with imaginary dirt. he sits it right in the middle of the couch pad and digs and then starts pushing this "dirt" ontop his toy/bone he does this til he pants Ummmm HELLO, Diggy.....There isnt any dirt there and I see your toy still!!!!! Okay and this one is a goofy one....It's Diggy....when he is about to attack Bella he gets this big ole running start then he somehow figures distance to Bella in his head and gives 3 big ole bounces off all 4's (like a gazell in full stride or a long jumper maybe) right before jumping on her. It's HILARIOUS and maybe thats just a diggism and not a trait but i wondered if MAYBE he wasnt the only one. he prolly is. OKay Bellas most goofy trait of all. When she and Diggy fight she ALWAYS turns sideways and pushes him with her butt. Its like she has a shield on her butt and she pushes him its really weird but she has done this since she was a baby and I have seen her sister Ada do it also....any others??? SO SPILL IT someone PLEASE let me know their Yorkies are as goofy as mine and have a reasonable explaination for this goofy behavior.

| My puppy does a lot of similar things. Lately, every time I give him a treat that is larger than a mouth sized morsel, like a chew bone or something, he whines and whines and holds it in his mouth because I think he is looking for somewhere to bury it. I can't give him anything that he can't chew all of right away. He's so funny! |

| All three of mine do ALL that you mentioned except the one with the bully floss. The biggest culprit with the whole butt shielding thing is Missy, my pekeapoo. I'm not sure what she's trying to accomplish by pushing the other other two with her rear end, but I think it is hysterical. All three of mine are girls and all three hike their leg to pee! What is that about!!

| LOL! So when you stick your tongue out at Jamie he raises his eyebrow at you! He definitely makes this... ...face. It is so cute. My roommate calls it his "John Black" look. She watches too much Days of Our Lives. Also when he sits with me he ALWAYS climbs up on my shoulder, never in my lap. He's like a parrot. With my roommate and my cousin who always sit with their feet up on the couch, he stands with his back paws on their chest and his front paws on their knees (with his butt in their faces). He also does this digging thing for forever before laying down and also fights with his butt... especially when I'm playing with him with my foot! Last but not least he drags his toys up onto the couch and then throws them down on the floor so that he can crouch and then pounce on them! He is such a silly boy!

| When Layla is eating in the truck.. (usually kibble) she HAS to "hide" it first in her bed... find it.. and then eat it... When she comes in from doing a poop- she gets a treat.. she comes on the carpet and digs her back legs like she is getting a running start at something.. NO idea why. When she greets people.. she does it sideways.. like she can't decide if she wants to give you her front end or her back end first. I'm pretty sure EVERY Yorkie does this- after a bath... she runs like a complete nut and must rub her body on every soft surface. She isn't content until all the pillows are off of all the couches. i'm sure i'll think of more. |

| MY Layla does that too! And she'll sometimes just turn around in circles while wagging her tail like crazy because she just doesn't know which way to go!

| LMAO These guys are just too funny, Yep, Bud has his silly goofball things as well, 1. Hates bugs. If he sees one in the grass or a bee flies near him he jumps like a rabbit to get out of it's way. 2. When the alarm goes off in the am he goes beserk! Jumps on me and starts digging into the sheets. I can not break him of this. I tried everything. What a way to wake up in the morning. 3. Does a hand stand, straight up in the air, when he pees! 4. Out of the blue will get a treat and waddle his butt threw the house wineing for no reason. 5. When I sit to eat dinner he leaves the kitchen and lays in the living room without ever being asked too. 6. I hide my house keys under the mat when I walk him. When we get home he runs up the steps, moves the mat and put's them in his mouth waiting for me to come up the stairs to give them to me. |

| Pepper, was chewing on his bully stick a short time ago. All of a sudden I heard this strange noise. He had a piece of it pulled up and he was sucking on it. Making all kinds of really weird sucking noises. Too funny.

| Pepper will potty on his potty pad and then run to wherever I am and start the bucking thing. I thought he was trying to tell me he did his business on his pad and that he wanted his treat.

| "Biscuit" does this really funny thing every morning when he gets up with me. We go into the living room and he lays down then he stretches out his right paw and pulls himself around the living room carpet. , the he rolls over and over andoes it on the other side. it is so cute and when he is done he looks like such a bed head! He is a very picky eater and when I put his food down in the bowl, he circles it about five times, checking it from afar to make sure of ???? If I get unknowingly close to a chewy that he has buried somewhere in the house, he gets really nervous, glancing over but at the same time not wanting me to notice, then if I get too close he will run over , grab the buried chewie (usually under my pillow) and stand there wagging his tail like crazy. I could go on forever...I just adore him!! |

| Grayson will sit in my lap and nudge my hand to hold his bully stick for him (spoiled) He plays in the am and always tosses his toys in the bath tub, then barks at me to get it and then toss it down the hall (we do this many times) Grayson likes to lay on the back of the couch but he always has to have his booty on my shoulder If I'm kissing daddy he trys to get in the middle of us (while standing) or he will start kissing both of us (if were sitting) and of course if I am on the computer he is in my lap in a little ball Grayson also bucks after peeing or pooping His weird habits are: If my 8 yr old starts dancing Grayson barks soo loud at him (we call it fussin) also if my 8yr old gets excited by the tv and jumps up or waves his hands around Grayson goes to fussing! And finally if the doorbell on tv rings the dogs go nuts!! My childhood dog Bucky used to cover up his toys/treats with invisiable dirt he also took his ball to the top of the stairs and would drop it and then chase it as it went down the stairs then go back up to the top and do it again.

| Glad to see Ringo isn't the only one with funny/strange habits! We feed him twice a day (morning and evening), but only after finishing up his food at night, he will jump on to the sofa (white, no less) and proceed to do a "happy dance", wiping his face and jumping around waggly-tailed! I've read somewhere it could be instinctual - something about wanting to wipe the sent of a "kill" off their noses. Who knows??

Bobby goes crazy over the alarm too. I cant break him of it either. 1. When I sit on the couch and do not pay all my attention to him, he will take a piece of my clothing in his mouth. He wont chew or anything, he just sits there with it in his mouth. 2. When My husband and I are have a conversation that lasts awhile he will start whining. If we dont look at him he will start barking. We think he just wants us to know he wants to talk too. Its so funny, and sometimes a little annoying 3. Whenever I cook (not too often!) he will go up on the stairs and peek his head out of the railing and look at me. 4. Bobby will bring in rocks from the backyard and put them in a pile. 5. He does the digging into the blankets before he lays down. Usually circles about 3 or 4 times too before he finally finds his spot. 6. We have a pee pad upstairs for when we are at work. Sometimes when we are home he will go upstairs do #2 on it. I always know when that happens because he will come screeching down the stairs and jumps off the bottom one to find me. Once he finds me he is so excited because he knows he will get a treat for being a good boy for potttying on the pad. There are so many goofy things I can name. He is just so much entertainment. My hubby made the joke that he wishes he could make me smile as much as my little guy does! | |
