| Louie's sick and I'm scared Please help.... My Louie has been sick. Quick overview. We got him from a bad breeder- he had Giardia and another parasite the day after we got him two months ago. Then last Saturday we were at the park all day and Sunday he threw up twice and had loose stool so we took him to the emergency. He was only slightly dehydrated, so they gave him a fluid injection and an injection to settle his tummy. He is also on a chicken and rice diet right now. However, yesterday (Tuesday) we saw blood in his stool and this morning his stool was runny and green. I am waiting for him to go potty so that I can take a stool sample in before work, but I am really scared. He has had his shots, but I keep thinking the breeder must be shady about that because he shouldn't be sick this much. I am scared!

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | his bowels and belly are prolly tore up. Blood in stool is realtively common but i would not wait for bowel movement id take him in. He needs a balnd diet and prolly another round of meds gardia as it usually take more than one round to clear it up. good luck and hope he feels better soon!

| It can take a long time to get rid of giardia and they can also get reinfected with it. I would take a stool sample to the vets

| I hope he feels better soon. Poor little thing. What he has comes from stagnant water. I have never understood how they get this at the breeders. |

| Sending good thoughts for your baby to be well soon. I have read that it takes more than one round of meds for giardia to get out of the system. HOpefully all he needs is more meds and time. |

| Thank you for your quick support. I hope that is all it is and that he gets better soon! I was told that the vet may be able to board him for the day for a small fee if he is sick. Have you heard this? Can they check a stool sample at this time?
