| This was pretty GROSS! Is it common? Bella had to go back to the vet today to get her needed boosters and when we got took her lastweek for her vet check she had ear mites so they wanted to check her ears too-anyway- I noticed that yesterday and today 2 different times she drug her hiney on the floor, she tested negative for worms lastweek but I mentioned it to the vet today and when she looked Bella had an anal gland that had (I am guessing feces) in it. It was so GROSS!!! The vet said they can get clogged glands and they would show me how to clean them....I said that was OK I will take her in when I notice a hiney drag Is this something that happens in small dogs often? |

| the glands fill daily with fluid. Usually when your pup poops a good hard poop it empties the glands (not ACTUALLY glands- sacks) - layla had LARGE anal glade issues, hence i know this ) So if the poop is soft- nothing empties the sack and the fluid starts to thicken which makes it harder to empty the next next time... they feel the pressure in their bum and rub it against the floor. Either a vet or a groomer can empty them. If it is a constant problem- try adding fibre to her diet- something like metamucil is great or just give a few baby carrots or some apple without the skin- or even a bran cereal as a "treat" |

| It happens with all dogs, but is more common in little ones. I take Duke into the vet to have his anal glands expressed whenever he starts rubbing his butt on the floor.
