Wow--now I am wondering if my little rescue isn't a Yorkie. I always thought she was a mix, but her coat looks just like your little puppy!

Kelz, I think you will enjoy the book!! Also this really adds to the charm of the breed,
to be able to watch this "little flower" blossom.

Gosh, how lucky you are to have 3 yorkies! They say you should always
have two but boo hoo I only have one ( but she's a darling)

Heidi was really dark as a puppy, but she's been turning more and more gray. Now the top of her head is almost white, and her back is a charcoal color. Her legs are blonde, and her "moustache" is reddish. When I got her at 8 weeks, she had really light gray roots on top of her head, so I thought she would have that color head eventually. I think she's beautiful. With yorkies, there can be a huge range in color. I've seen some older females that are so light blonde (all over) that they're almost white! I think all the yorkie colors are beautiful!

It's much too involved to go into on this site. One thing I know is the ears are the
last to clear so if you have a pup at a young age with a nice quality gold already on the ears, you have a good chance of that head clearing completely to a nice rich gold
but there are other thing to it also. I highly recommend this book.
I have to get that book!

I had the same thing happen to Samson. He's about 4-1/2 months now. I took him to the groomer last week. He went in a black puppy with the tan face and feet, and he came out looking silver. His father was silver/blue and his mother was black. I had to look twice to make sure they had given me the right dog! Regardless what's on the outside, he's still the same fire ball I took in for grooming!

It's kinda funny, but we have 5 puppies that are 12 weeks old now. Everyone comments that 'they don't look anything like their parents'. I keep a little Yorkshire Terrier book in their room to show them that the pups are black and tan and mom and dad are blue and gold. Now I am wondering as the babies mature how their coats will mature. They are all so different from size to faces to hair.

That's what will happen one of these times when I take Kacee in. The roots on her back are showing about an inch of silver now!

This is called the fun of looking puppies grow . I called them my little surprizing little ones because colors don't only depends on the parents . Differences makes the charm of a Yorkie .
