| i've never owned any dogs before TeeJay, but from experience with my boyfriend's dog, i would say each has their own personality. teejay is very very independent little boy, but he will cry if you leave him for a minute. he LOVES to play but knows when he's being too rough. he's soo smart too. he was potty trained in about 3 days and he knows how to sit, lay, speak, shake hands (or paw) and he's learning rollover right now. my boyfriend's boy puppy is completely opposite of teejay. he's very clingy to his owner and is a lap dog (he'll jump onto your lap and wont budge). he hates strangers opposed to teejay who LOVES new faces. he's also a very picky eater whereas teejay will eat almost anything. he loves to be cuddled with and teejay will let you cuddle him for a few minutes and then break free. all in all, i think puppies get a huge chunk of their personalities from their owners regardless of gender. my boyfriend's family keeps their puppy inside always which is why he hates strangers (not to mention other dogs--he hates teejay ) and they also love to hold him 24-7 which explains his clinginess. so there are 2 different types of personalities that i have experienced from boy puppies. so it varies with males. i'm not too sure of the female puppies though. |

| Josie has several personalities With the kids: she likes to play rough With Company: she likes to show off her tricks With Hubby: she is the most loving lap dog and she follows him around everywhere. She listens to everything he says. (I hate him j/k) With me: she just won't really cuddle. sometimes she follows me around. I JUST WANNA CUDDLE, that's all.

| We had really wanted a female just because we wanted a very lovely type of baby, but because of the difference in price we went with a male and have not regretted it once. Teddy is the best little pal a person could ask for. He is the biggest lover and will often hop up just because he needs a hug. He is beyond incredible...I do think that personality traits with this breed anyhow depends more on the individual dog versus what sex it is.

| I think this is such a cute thread! Stomper is my first dog and he is a male. I personally think they act the way they do because of their individual personalities. Stomper is crazy!!! SOOOO hyper. Total alpha male (thinks he is the man of the house). He also has a very kind sweet side of him. For example, he will be going crazy with his toys, then just stop and come up and kiss me. If he is in a dead sleep...he will get up to follow me, but he is also very independent and willl go outside and do his thing without me. Stubborn big time! I think he acts like a "dog" with a cute personality - not because he is male!

| I think personalities are going to be different-whether male or female. My male is more dependent than my female. My female is more of the alpha-well, she wants to be. They fight over that quite a bit. My male is much more lovey than the female-he ALWAYS has to be where I am, on my lap, kissing me. My female could care less if she's on my lap or not. My male is definately my baby-without a doubt. I got a female because I wanted a girly little dog. I think Baxter is more girly than Chloe-Chloe is a tom boy. My female is MUCH easier to train than my male-much easier by far. I think the differences in my dogs are personalities and not just traits of males versus females.
