Breeding... Okay so I want to breed my Yorkie male. I only want to do it once then have him neutered. I volunteer from time to time at a dog rescue and I have fostered so I understand what can happen. Here lies the problem. He is 15 lbs. He has the seal of approval from the vet that he is healthy, he's just a larger yorkie. It has been extremely difficult trying to find a female that is large enough to accomplish this goal. I want to do this the right way because he means the WORLD to me. Any advice would be appreciated. |

One of my babies is 5 pounds and the other is 14 pounds :) |
Ok,can we get something straight here. Most people buy a Yorkie because they want a small dog.If I wanted a big dog ,I would have chosen a Golden Retriever. My Presley is close to 5 months now ,and is nearly 5Ibs.Now im,e not saying he won,t be loved just as much ,wether he stays 5Lb or gets to 15Ib.But in my case iv,e got a grade 2 breast cancer.Iv,e had the left breast removed and all the lymph nodes. With 2 years of introvenous treatment through the right arm. Both arms are now quite week.So yes im,e hoping Presley won,t grow too big for me to pick up.Would like to show pictures, but can,t understand the jargon.would appreciate it if someone could explain it in plain english,Thank you. |

LOL, my Jezebel was charting to be 6.5 - 7 lbs when I got her, but she took off on a growth spurt and it just seemed to never stop! She ended up at 15 lbs, but that is still a small dog! Human babies start out at 6 or 7 lbs, yet as they get larger we adapt and can still carry them around. When she ended up bigger than average, I found Chuy and he was so close in size and age to her that I thought they would be a great fit for one another (and they are). His larger size was actually a plus for me, since one year old dogs play very hard and I don't want to worry about a smaller one getting hurt. For me, health and temperament were far more important than the size that they end up. I'm with them through thick or thin, no matter what their size. If your Presley is already 5 lbs @ 5 months old, chances are you will end up with something larger than the standard, but they can fool you and do all of their major growing in the early months. Jezebel is almost double what she weighed at 5 months. If you have issues that make a smaller size critical, then look for an adult. That's the ONLY way you can be certain they will top out on the smaller side. |
My Lizzie is a compacted almost 9 pound. I think she has at least a pound of fur. She is the same size as mollie in length and width but she I'd perfect. My Mollid is my skinny 11 year old and Abbie is around 2n 9 OSS. I love them all size is just not important My first yorkie Nlie was around 10 to 11 pounds I don't care size is just a number and with Liz she wears it well |
they do exist your's is living proof, I know several people with large yorkies, genes baby |
