| HELP!!!! I need advice!!!!! A few days ago I posted that I got a yorkiepoo, Nahla (her name was Ella up until last night when my daughter changed it...ha). I got Nahla for Mufasa so he wouldn't be lonely throughout the day while I'm at work and since the kids started back to school today. My son is involved in football and basketball and so I know we will be gone a lot with that. I didn't want Mufasa to get lonely so I got Nahla. Nahla is a SWEET 1 pound yorkiepoo and just so stinkin cute. She is really playful and precious! My problem is I don't know if Mufasa likes her. He played with her at first but last night he became rather aggressive towards her 3 times. He also always does this thing where he will back over on top of her. Another thing that has me worried is the fact that it's obvious Mufasa does NOT want to share us. If I am playing with Nahla or if she is even close to me Mufasa won't come near me and won't play with me. If me or the kids are playing with Mufasa and Nahla comes up Mufasa will run to the other side of the room as if he doesn't want to be around her. He does play with her some though. Am I being played? I have no idea what is going on at home when I'm not there. Is Mufasa playing with her and everything is fine but when we come home he becomes possessive of us and that's when he doesn't like her anymore? How do I judge that? All I know is what I see when I'm at home. Granted we've only had her for a few days but I don't want to stress Mufasa out if he doesn't like her? What do you think is going on? HELP!!!! |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Well, it'll probably take a while for them to get adjusted. But how big is Mufasa? Nahla is so tiny. I would be afraid to leave her alone with him right now. Hope someone else will give you advice. Good Luck w/yr new baby!

| They always say give the most attention when bringing a new dog in to the one that was there first. Don't neglect your new pup but it is most important Mufasa does not feel replaced. The aggression will happen and unless it's fierce they will work it out. Even though it was meant so they could be together you might seperate them when you leave until you see they are calming down and getting used to each other better. Just a suggestion.

| We just went through this last month when I brought Doodlebug home. I had the illusion they would immediately become best buddies. Pebbles was so stressed. It broke my heart and I cried. She would looks at Doodlebug and yap (not bark) and was drooling and spitting bubbles. I slowly got better and they are usually pretty good together now. Pebbles will give an occasional good nip but IMO its well deserved when she does and stops him from being obnoxious. I do not leave them alone togther when we are not home. Things will get better. It's like bringing how a new baby and telling your toddler that you have to share mommy and daddy!

| I don't leave them alone together. Nahla isn't potty trained so I keep her in my laundry room with her bed, toys, water, etc. at night when we go to bed or when we aren't home. I leave the door to my laundry open (it opens into my kitchen) but we have a board across the bottom of the door so Nahla can't get out but Mufasa can get in if he wants to play with her, etc. So you think I should give it some more time or do you think Mufasa would be better off without her. My first priority is Mufasa because he is my BABY and I don't want to do anything to stress him out. I wanted to get him a friend so he wouldn't be lonely but I'm afraid it might not be working. How much time should I give them together before I decide if giving Mufasa a friend is helping or hurting him? |
