| Whats going on with my yorkies hair?? My puppy is 11 weeks old and the hair on top of her head is starting to look almost white from the roots out. It is also starting to happen all over her body where she is black but not as much as her head. My breeder told me that she will be blue and gold whatever that means. She is my first yorkie, is this normal?? What does blue and gold look like?? Last edited by my baby kandie; 08-07-2008 at 07:20 PM. Reason: forgot something |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey did this too, and the tips on his head were black with the root, silver white and he looked like he was balding. At the age of about 15 months his head was all silver and in the next few months it turned beige, but it seems to happen suddenly and not from the roots, but the whole hair. At two ,the beige now is darker and golden in places. His body hair or what they call the saddle is not a coal black but a dark charcoal almost metallic/silvery looking black, this color is referred to as blue. So, he is what they call a blue and gold, but it can take up to three years for this to happen, but it sounds like this is happening with yours. It's a great coat, and he hasn't had any mats since he was a puppy. So easy to take care of.

| It is normal. Yorkie's change colors once they get older. I think some change sooner than others.
