| What do you put them in when in the car? Hi all, Newbie here, and my hubby and I will be getting a puppy when he comes home in March (yay!). I just wanted to ask, when you're in the car do you put your baby in some kind of carrier/pet car seat or just carry them in your lap? I was just thinking that (God forbid) there is an accident or we have to make a hard stop or something that the baby could get hurt? What do you all use/do when in the car? Thanks in advance. | There are special crates that can be put into your seat belt. Mine liked one that was like a car seat and sat high in the seat and then had a halter that you put the dog in. He loved it and could see out. The problem was when my husband and i travel together because it takes up the passenger seat. I have three yorks now so they do travel un restrained. I put a plush in my lap and they have their spots. It is not safe and I don't know what the answer is for multiple dogs except crates that are seat belted in in the back seat. That is what show dog folks often do. It is a hard decision . Lucky little dog that you are thinking of it already ! |

| I started out putting the puppy in a crate but he soon wanted out and started sitting in my lap. With my new little girl, I will be getting a car seat for her and my little boy. I'm afraid of something happening to them if there was an accident or something. Good for you for checking it out before you get one. Most of my experience was trial and error. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I use the Snoozer. It is strapped to the console between the front seats. I attach a safety harness to Nolee and the Snoozer. He loves it! It's straight to the Snoozer with we get in the car!

| I have the Lookout Car Seat with an extra strap so both girls ride in there in the front passenger seat. They love it.

| Mine have car seats in the back seat. Loki loves his and goes right to sleep. Sammy didn't like hers at first, but after 2-3 rides she realized she was not getting out and she stopped barking at us. She rides pleasantly in hers but she doesn't sleep unless she's tired, she prefers to watch everything that is going on. We have Snoozers too. There are lots of different styles. You can get them online or check with your local pet boutique to see if they have one. They are anywhere from $75-$200 but trust me they are worth it!

| Daisy rides in her seat that is fastened into our passenger side. It has a restraint so she can't jumop out of it and it puts her high enough so she can see out the windows which she loves.

YT 1000 Club Member | Let's see the boys have a car seat. I made it out of PVC piping and plywood so they could both fit in it. One is 11lbs and the other is almost 7lbs. Maggie has a seatbelt harness for the front seat. That is her seat and whenever she is in the car that is where she sits. Friday is in a carrier. I have her in there so she can get used to it for when we start traveling to shows.

| Hi , welcome to YT ! I have a carrier I use for Suzi. She is in the back seat, right in the middle. Placeing your dog in the front seat or in your lap are the worse places for a small Yorkie. Because, if you have air bags , it will kill your dog if they are deployed. Also, on the drivers lap is dangerous because if you were in an accident the small dog would go flying out the windshield, or crushed. Always have your dog in the backseat . These little guys are smaller then a child, and we need to protect them in every way we can. Safety needs to be a number one concern.

| I just bought Bobby the solvit pet booster seat. Here is a link to it at petco. I bought it at BB&B for $30 much cheaper than petco. but i couldnt find it on their website. It works pretty good, Bobby can still stick his head out the window but I can feel confident that he wont jump out because he is strapped in. The strap hooks to his harness. I put it in the backseat so when I have guests in the car I dont have to move it. Solvit Deluxe Pet Booster Seat at PETCO |

Bobby loves car rides, I had to buy the seat because he is too short and would climb on me so he could look out the window. It was getting too dangerous. Its so cute he will bark at my purse when he wants to go for a ride. | |

| Depending on where we are going, Canyon either rides in his plastic carrier or in his car seat. He sleeps the whole time in either one. |

| I have a harness that I bought that has an extra large loop on the back that the seat belt goes through. Sassi sits or lays in the back seat-she loves it and it was under $20!
