Questions about coat color changing.

Both of mine also turned many shades before they decided what color they wanted to be. Shelby (my little girl) is really a steel color and Seymour is also, but his is a much darker shade. They both went thru a really odd stage that I wondered if they were "ugly ducklings"!! As far a noses and bodies...... Shelby has short legs and a fluffy coat. I use good shampoo products on her coat, and a small amount of oil, and it looks beautiful after grooming (I also am careful about too much blow-drying). Seymour has a petite face and a longer nose. His legs and body are longer than Shelby's. His coat is silky and grows like crazy. Some Yorkies hair just don't grow that fast or full..... but actually many keep them trimmed shorter around the body.... easier to groom AND to dress them in sweaters & clothes (which is sometimes needed.... mine get cold in the winter ).

Don't be worried...... it looks like your baby is a typical Yorkie ..... and I would LOVE to see a pic of Yo Yo's face.......... I'll bet she is ADORABLE!!!!!

When we got our adorable little black and tan puppy we fell in love. By the time he began to change color we wouldn't have cared if he turned purple! He is now a "blonde" and he is THE most beautiful yorkie in the whole world!!

We adopted one that has the longer nose and he is taller than most of the yorkies we have seen. He is beautiful and such a sweetie!

What you describe is normal. Did you see the parents when you purchased your dog? I always make sure I see the parents before purchasing a Yorkie. That way, there are no suprises (as a rule) in coloring or size.

Nope didn't get to see the parents. Unfortunately the breeder I went to said that my yo-yo is from a friend of hers that she picked up in another state. I should have done some research on the breeder, but I was naive. I think she might be a broker now. Hopefully she's not picking up puppies from puppy mills and selling them. But she did have 4 beautiful yorkies of her own.

...... to ensure a good coat, you might want to consider her diet. Sometimes a good premium food. Salmon oil is an important ingredient for coats. We feed Nutro Ultra. I know that some peeps here do a great raw diet...... and it isn't like it sounds. You can buy air dried raw dog food........ it looks like beef jerky. You may want to inquire about it... and search the threads on it.

My baby Darla's hair is turning silver on the roots too. Her's starting changing when she was about about 5 months, and she's now 6 months.

Yorkies change sooo much as they are growing up it is unreal! Misty is 7 months, has long legs, but very straight, thank God, a long body, and silky hair that is turning silver. If your dogs hair is thick and Not Silky it is probably a Cotton Coat. They are thicker and not straight!

Thanks! Right now we are feeding her Blue buffalo, but her vet said to feed her either Eukanuba, Royal Canin, or Science diet cuz those are the best. We'll probably change her food again soon.

nope wasn't planning to breed her, but I saw these 2 silky haired Yorkies with long flowy hair and fell in love and thats why I decided to get a Yorkie. I really was hoping she would have silky hair.

yes the silver will change again...the silver on her head has turn to a light tan...i am hoping it gets darking on her head like her sire...hehe...only time can tell!

sounds like she may be a broker...especially if she picked up a puppy in arkansas...that is another puppy mill state!
