Thanks for the reply.

I finally used the bottle this evening, during dinner Bailey decided to hop up on the couch and beg. I threw a few squirts her way and she hated it. She did back off although she continued to bark and try her luck and sneaking back up on the couch. Hopefully as time goes on, it will have a lasting effect.

I am glad I found this site, I am learning so many things and now I find myself being more watchful, careful, and concerned about Bailey's well-being and with training her, etc. Not that I wasn't before LOL but I have more confidence in knowing that there are others out there with little Yorkshire TERRORS lol and understand what I am going through. I am glad there are so many here that have had many breakthroughs and are sharing their experiences.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sebastian's favorite thing is to bark on the top of his lungs

Some times you need to be creative!
What are you talking about "Air Duster"?? Isn't that dangerous to spray them with?? Water doesn't do anything for Lily either and the coins in the can doesn't stop her at all. How much vinegar do ya all use and do you spray them in the face or how?? She is so stubborn!! She is 4-1/2 months old and I have worked and worked with her and she still screams non-stop in her expen outside or where ever she is in any type of confinement!! She sleeps in bed with us at night.....she won that battle of the CRATE!! I really don't mind as long as she does the potty thing outside or on pee pad!! She is doing better with potty finally but NOTHING shuts her up at all EVER!!lol I know my neighbors probably think "oh my there is that DOG"!!! HELP!!!!!!!

As far as the can of coins...I think the sound is suppose to be a quick one so they learn that their behavior will get a negative effect. I have seen a lot of people shake and shake and shake. It should be a quick sound that distracts them.
Also the water bottle is a good idea, like said before, just don't let them get immune to it.

Try the squirt bottle with some vinegar in it. I don't know how much to put in. I have a big squirt bottle and put 2 caps of white vinegar in it. It is working better now than when it was just water. I have some who don't understand where the water is coming from. They don't associate the water falling from the air with me. LOL Some of them it freaks out but they shut up to try to figure out what is happening. I suggest you use only one cap of white vinegar, I think maybe 2 caps is too much for the size of bottle I have. Sylvia

ROTFL! At my house you have to spray them individually or those who are still barking continue to bark. Some of them go hide so they can't be easily sprayed and still they bark. LOL Monsters, I tell you, Monsters! Sylvia

Hehehe, they are smart lil stinkers aren't they? It's amazing how fast they learn. I used a spray bottle with Maggy May to teach her to stop attacking my feet, I was so afraid I'd trip and fall on her cause she was contantly attacking my feet when I got up. I haven't had to use the spray bottle in so long now, normally I just say, ok, I'm gonna get the spray bottle and she stops. Well, she must have decided somewhere along the way that the spray bottle was fun cause now recently when I had gotten it, she ran from me then turned around and came back running full blast, grabbed my pant leg and grrrrr'ed at me like, come on Mom, lets play some more. I couldn't help but laugh a lil (but of course I hid that from her, you know kids, let them see ya smile and they KNOW it's all fun and games, lol.) I kept tryin to get her to stop but it wasn't workin, so, the last resort was tellin her, "Maggy May, that's it, I'm never brushing your teeth ever again!" Oh you would have thought her world just came crashing down, LOLOL!! She stopped right in her tracks and looked at me like, "oh no please Mommy, I'll stop, I'll stop." LOL! Sounds mean to tell her that but hey, it works, ROFL!!! Glad your lil one only requires you to grab the squirt bottle now.

The water bottle is also working for me. Toby only starts excessive barking at other dogs when we are out for a walk. So I take the bottle with me and say QUIET! I'm the one who posted about this Idea and I got the idea from an article by Trey Stevens.

Thank you.. I think someone came in and took over my dog.. It is amazing. When he is acting up.. I pick up the bottle and he changes into this little angel.. (of course I knew he was a little angel all the time. hee hee) But he stops. And I only had to spray him the one time. He now gets up on the back of the couch and watches what is going on outside.. quietly.. he may growl a little or give a short bark.. then he looks at me and changes his mind. I leave the water bottle sitting right there beside me.. I love it! Whatever works.. I know they are all different.. but I sure do love them.

An air buster is simply a can that sprays a little air... I have seen this tactic used on a very barky pom... It does not hurt the dog, but startels them... It is the noise.
I guess I am very lucky that Suzi is not a Barker... She is very good. Many toy breeds are know to be yappy. It takes a lot of patience and consistency to curb them of this habit.

The air doesn't reach them to ruffle their hair? I have some that would startle real good at that. They don't like to be blown at. It really freaks them. I thot that if the air duster ruffled their hair, it might be my next step.

Oh, by the way, I did try using the air horn thing. It works except my scaredy cats got really freaked out by that too. I didn't buy a second air horn cause I was afraid it might bother my neighbors. I think they live at least a quarter of a mile from us and they are higher on their hill than we are but I was worried that when the dogs bark outside at night that I might disturb them with the air horn.
