| Saying hello while doing my research... Just wanted to introduce myself! I'm a SAHM and part time photographer looking to add a member to our family. I think I've narrowed it down to a Yorkie or Yorkie mix. We spend alot of time on the sports fields and I want a lttle buddy that I can take with me. Let me tell you, finding a good health baby is hard work! I never realized just how much thought should be put into bringing a puppy into your home! I've still not decided if I want to go with the rescue route or with a responsible breeder. Of course, now I see how hard it is to know what a responsible breeder is. Anyway, I've come here to learn and thanks to everyone on here for being so generous with inforation that will help me become a responsible owner. |

| Thank you for the welcomes! I'm learning alot on here that isn't on the standard "breed info" pages I've come across. I really think I'm leaning towards a young rescue (hopefully!). I'd never plan on letting it breed and whenever I read rescue stories it always warms my heart. I'd like to think I did my part, ya know? I have about a month to learn as much as I can before our schedule settles down enough to bring in a new baby. |

| Thank ya'll! I've been reading up alot and well, I'm getting nervous! Are Yorkies really that hard to potty train? I don't have a problem with being super consistent with the training but I'm worried DH might get a little bit peeved when he (because I really want a boy ) still isn't housebroke after oh, say a year or so! |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | imo as long as you are consistent from the time you bring him home...he should get a hang of it...it won't be overnight but i would say within a year if even...hehe...good luck!

| welcome to YT It is very good your doing your research before taking home a new baby Yorkie's do have a bad reputation of being hard to potty train, but, it is not true for every one of them. These little guys are smart, and learn quickly

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Hi and welcome to YT, from a fellow Okie! I applaud you for even considering a rescue yorkie/yorkie mix. I've recently become involved with OK Yorkie Rescue and have found fostering and seeing dogs go to their forever homes the most rewarding experience ever. I'm currently fostering a yorkie mix male, "Skip", that is adorable. He was found in a kill shelter in Arkansas and rescued by our group. Skips favorite thing to do is to play ball....he would love it on the sports fields Yorkies can be sometimes stubborn about potty training. But with consistency and patience they usually do get it. Good luck with your search and hope you find your buddy soon.

| Hey fellow Okie! It's great that you're doing your research before you commit to a pet. Great GREAT job on your part. I must warn you, finding a reputable breeder here in Oklahoma is extremely hard! We are one of the largest puppymill states. If you decide to go the rescue route, I wanted to make you aware of the OK Yorkie Rescue. It is a rescue founded by our very own YT members! We have many dogs and a couple of puppies if you're interested. Our website is OK Yorkie Rescue and here is our Petfinder page OK Yorkie Rescue, Choctaw, OK: Adoptable Pets: Petfinder Be sure to check us out! Good luck!
