| New Member Hi my name is Kathy and I have just become a new member to yorkietalk.com. I had originally googled a search on Luxating Patella and it sent me to the yorkietalk forum. I would like to discuss the Luxating Patella but first let me tell you a little about myself and my two lovable yorkies. I worked for a large aerospace company for 27 years, this company had a great company matching pension plan that I joined not to long after hiring in. Because of this pension plan I was able to take a early retirement at 55 years of age, that was almost two years ago. Oh and I should mention that my wonderful husband was very encouraging when it came to making this retirement decision. Anyway I had always wanted a Yorkshire terrier and had already picked out two names a few years back. I retired on November 30 and got yorkie #1 on December 28th and named her Willow, yorkie #2 came along on November 4th the following year and she is named Buffy. Can anyone guess where these names came from? I'm hope to have some great and informative yorkie discussions. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Hi and welcome to YT! It's great that you found us. You will find lots of information on the site about luxating patellas. Unfortunately LP is a common yorkie problem as it is with other toy breeds. You can do a search here, and will have more than enough information to read. I'm guessing either Buffy or Willow suffers from LP? My little Ruby does, but not severe enough for any surgery yet. I've been giving her joint supplements and have hopes of avoiding surgery as long as possible. I probably should be able to guess why you picked the names you did, but really don't know. You'll have to tell me, sorry I couldn't figure it out! Congratulations on your early retirement - I'm sure you are enjoying it immensely!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Hi welcome to YorkieTalk, I remember Buffy from the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I think her best friend was Willow. Are your two girls best friends?

YT 1000 Club Member | Hey Kathy welcome to YT. I was gonna guess from the Buffy vampire slayer show since I named my Pom - Willow cuz I loved the show. She currently has LP at grade 4 and since situations in my household won't change until the MIL is no longer here we have opted for giving her meds when she needs them. She was my only dog gotten from a BYB and has alot of medical problems not to mention she is a 20 lb pomeranian.
