Just a lil thought... I've been a member here for a few months now, I've donated, joined a few groups and even signed up for the GE which I can not wait to see who I get to spoil.... But lately such hateful posts have made me wonder about this forum. I understand everyone wants to educate people,and things like "teacup" yorkie and "puppymill" words upset everyone. But something I would like to remind everyone, we didn't all always have the understanding we do now,and many of us,myself included are still learning how to care for our precious babies. But would it not be better to be a lil easier on new members looking for information and wanting to understand the breed. Rather then chasing them away and making them feel they can't ask questions about anything because they will get hateful comments in return? Try to remember, we are all people here, we are not perfect,NONE of us are. Try to remember what brings us here is our love for our lil fur babies and our want to keep them safe and do right by them. Think of how much most of us would not learn if we did not have other Yorkie Owners to teach us? Papers, no papers, no matter where the puppies come from,they are all the puppies we love. Gentle not so rough... I love this place,and would like for everyone that comes here new to get the same chance I did to learn about their lil ones. Try to remember each poster is a person , not just font on a screen. |
Great post! It's nice to see another Oklahoma member here! You'll have to come to our next meetup! |
I 110% AGREE!!!!:thumbup::goodpost: |

I agree. No one wants to be lectured. |
Well said:bravo::bravo::bravo: |
Thank you for having the courage to post that...I too have been on the recieving end of those hatefull post and it is not a nice place to be ESPECIALLY when you are new and excited about getting to know other yorkie owners..it is very dissapointing...just becasue someone has been here a long time dosnt give them the right to make someone feel like crap becasue they are not as educated as they are about yorkies..I would love to see more people having the backs of the new members..if more of us stood up for the newbies maby the hatefull posters would back off...I believe you can educate without being rude..its called being tackfull....I mean if you get a new puppy and it has an accident on the carpet, you are not going to shove its nose in it because it "should have known better" are you? well..not all the newbies know better either.thats why they come here to learn. |

I Like how you worded that! |
I agree please we are here to help each other and support each other,thank you so much for saying this. |
for those that have said thanks.. you are welcome. I just hate to see people come here then walk away thinking all yorkie owners are rude and harsh. I think it's easy to forget on the computer that behind the font is a living person with feelings. |
Great post. I feel so bad when new people come on and are so happy and the within 10 post are so upset and wanting to leave. I have a pet store dog, a BYB dog and 2 breeder dogs and I love them all. There was a time when I thought there were teacup yorkies and that I was doing a good thing by getting a puppy out of a bad situation ie pet store, byb. If someone comes on here and feels welcome and stays they will realize the probelms with buying from petstores and that there is no such thing as a teacup, but they need to come to that conclusion on their own, not by being jumped on. |
I couldn't have said it better myself. Well done!!! A little loving kindness goes a loooonnnnggg way, and I hope we all share more of that from now on to keep up the warmth and integrity of this gem of a site. Owners of new furbabies are nervous enough (me included), so please be sensitive and kind, even when you think you are just stating the truth. Warmest Aloha, |
Well said....... |
Great post! :thumbup: |

Excellent post!! :cheers::thumbup::bravo: |
I agree completely and entirely. Your post was absolutely fantastic and should be read by ALL YT members with an open heart and mind. Unfotunately, some of our members feel they have the right to speak their minds - and some of thier minds lack good internet manners. When you don't know or see the person on the other side of the screen, it is very easy to forget or even care that they have feelings. I LOVE YorkieTalk and consider its members my extended family - and just like my blood kin - some I love and like to spend time with and some I avoid. I have always felt that when a person is in a crisis situation, it is a time to embrace and help, and then if they need to be "scolded" do that privately - not many people are willing to accept information or change their ways if they are openly ridiculed. We should strive to teach by example .... |

Thank you. I feel the same way. |
What a great post! I applaude you for standing up for yourself. I truly agree with you 100% that people shoould realize that not everyone knows it all, and if they want to inform you of something or let you know a better way of doing it that they should be polite about it. Way to go girl!! But I hope some peoples comments don't scare you away from the group - there's alot of nice people willing to help you learn in a nice fashion. |
I agree with you 110%. I have been a member on here since 2006 and I have made very little posts due to the fact that some of the people here are very mean. When I got my Yorkie it was from a BYB and I did not know any better, but after reading some of the people on here, I did not participate because I did not want to get "jumped on" for something that I knew little about. I was only looking for a lap dog, not one to show or breed, but after reading about others that were the same as me, I politely became a bystander just looking and not participating. There is a lot of great info on this forum and I would love to feel someday that this is part of my family. |

I totally agree with your post. We're really all here to learn, not to be critized. |

Thanks for posting!! I've been busy this summer and not on YT as much as I crave. :( So I want to welcome all newbies and truly wish that that they/we always felt welcomed by all. But YT is HUGE. So while there may be some hurtful replies, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ALL NEWBIES search out some other YT'ers. Don't leave! There are many many more kind people here than there are unkind ones. And I know that many unkind ones don't even mean to be. So if you don't click with some, please don't leave. Just search out some others of us to bond and chat with!! Welcome All!!! |
Just today another member that JUST joined was driven away because of all the nasty comments on another thread. People come here looking for answers on how to properly care for their babies (regardless of where they come from). Not to have others be condescending and rude because they don't agree with someone else. It's very disheartening. |
Very nicely said! Thanks for that :)! |
Amen to that Wigfur! |
