I agree completely and entirely. Your post was absolutely fantastic and should be read by ALL YT members with an open heart and mind.

Unfotunately, some of our members feel they have the right to speak their minds - and some of thier minds lack good internet manners. When you don't know or see the person on the other side of the screen, it is very easy to forget or even care that they have feelings. I LOVE YorkieTalk and consider its members my extended family - and just like my blood kin - some I love and like to spend time with and some I avoid.

I have always felt that when a person is in a crisis situation, it is a time to embrace and help, and then if they need to be "scolded" do that privately - not many people are willing to accept information or change their ways if they are openly ridiculed. We should strive to teach by example ....

What a great post! I applaude you for standing up for yourself. I truly agree with you 100% that people shoould realize that not everyone knows it all, and if they want to inform you of something or let you know a better way of doing it that they should be polite about it. Way to go girl!! But I hope some peoples comments don't scare you away from the group - there's alot of nice people willing to help you learn in a nice fashion.

I agree with you 110%. I have been a member on here since 2006 and I have made very little posts due to the fact that some of the people here are very mean. When I got my Yorkie it was from a BYB and I did not know any better, but after reading some of the people on here, I did not participate because I did not want to get "jumped on" for something that I knew little about. I was only looking for a lap dog, not one to show or breed, but after reading about others that were the same as me, I politely became a bystander just looking and not participating.

There is a lot of great info on this forum and I would love to feel someday that this is part of my family.

Wow, I have only been a member a short while and I have seen some pretty nasty posts, usually directed at newbies. A lot of times I won't even post for fear of being torn apart.
You're post is so right-on Wigfur. Thank you for posting it.

I so agree with you. I have been on here a long time and I should have a lot more posts than I do, but am so scared I would get cut down or something. I have two yorkies whom I love more than words can say. Starsky is from a byb and grew to be a lot bigger than I was told he would be. He is 11 lbs and I was told he'd be 6. I didn't know anything about what to look for when getting a yorkie and I assumed the breeder was right. Then Shylah came and I didn't realize until after I got her she was probably from a puppy farm because the breeder was on the bad list of breeders. She is beautiful to me but a little shy. She had some sickness when I got her at first but now she is great. I would never trade my babies for anything. They are perfect the way they are. They are pets and a big part of the family. Would we make fun of what someone's kid looked like, or how they are raised? I would hope not.

I've been busy this summer and not on YT as much as I crave. :(

So I want to welcome all newbies and truly wish that that they/we always felt welcomed by all. But YT is HUGE. So while there may be some hurtful replies, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ALL NEWBIES search out some other YT'ers. Don't leave! There are many many more kind people here than there are unkind ones. And I know that many unkind ones don't even mean to be. So if you don't click with some, please don't leave. Just search out some others of us to bond and chat with!!

Just today another member that JUST joined was driven away because of all the nasty comments on another thread. People come here looking for answers on how to properly care for their babies (regardless of where they come from). Not to have others be condescending and rude because they don't agree with someone else. It's very disheartening.
