Anyway, I've enjoyed (believe it or not) reading this thread, some humor and some education, what more could you want. I don't have any advice for the OP but I wish you lots of luck! |

Gabby has never slept in our room, so maybe that is why, but since day one she has slept through the night (perhaps not sleeps but does not cry and wake us up). When she was little she slept in her play pen and had a potty pad to go on. Now she sleeps in the large kitchen, and goes on her potty pad during the night. Good luck! |
Hi! These little ones can sure figure out in a hurry how to wrap us tight around their tiny paws.;) Good luck! With all the advice you've already gotten, I can't think of any thing to add. Hopefully tonight will be better.:D |

Just wanted to send you lot's of lucK! |
Hope all is going well. Sleep, Baxter, sleep....:) Just curious? Does the wdw in your username mean Walt Disney World??? |
Try to cage him beside the bed, when acts up tell him it's bedtime and just let him know you are there. We had a yorkie for 16 1/2 years that used to sleep in our bed, big mistake from day one. Our two new pups now 2 1/2 yrs old like to sleep in their cage with the door open. They rarely get up during the night to pee on their pee-pee papers. First 7 months was the worst after that he'll calm down. |
Tired I can understand how you feel. Not getting sleep is not fun. I am beginning to hate my Kirby also. We have had snow, snow and more snow here. When I take Kirby out to pottie he has this thing of sniffing for what seems like hours. When he finds his spot he spins in circles until I get dizzy watching. He seems to tolerate the cold better than I can. This is when the hate thing moves in but of course this is just frustration. He knows I still love him. Hopefully he will outgrow this. Kirby is one year old. The other thing he does is manages what I call the dumb face. He is all smiles when I ask him if he would like a treat but when I ask if he needs to pottie, he stares at me like duh what do you mean? Grrrr See, you are not alone with these temporary hate moments. |
Welll,Nolee is 2 and sometimes wakes me up to go potty at least 1 time during the nite. He just started this the last couple of months! Just wanted to share, good luck! |
Does your bathroom get natural sunlight? I wonder if his circadian rythmns are being thrown off but not seeing the sun enough. Also, I do hope that Baxter is not locked up ALL day in your bathroom without a break. I don't care how big your bathroom is, unless it has a park and some other dogs in it, it's not going to be a good place for him to spend eight+ hours. I don't know if your husband takes him out during the day? If there's no one, please consider getting a dog walker to come by or put him in doggy daycare a few times per week. It sounds like maybe he doesn't know how to use pee pads? I would guess that he's holding it all day because he doesn't want to mess inside. Perhaps when you're home, he sees that you're available to take him out. Also, Victoria Stillwell often recommends only giving dogs ice cubes after a certain point in the evening. That way they can get some liquid as they need it, but can't fill up to bursting. |
[QUOTE=Lynn WDW;2130055]I don't know what happened but all of a sudden he stopped sleeping through the night. He's 7 mos. old. We were up 3 times last night to go out and 2 times the night before. He makes it all day without going potty so I don't know why all of a sudden he has to go during the night. He sleeps with me and my husband. I have totally spoiled this dog and was so excited when he started sleeping through the night. I know it throws him off a bit with his stomach when he gets his heartworm medicine but that was Friday and this is his bladder. Tonight I am going to try to leave him in the bathroom where he stays during the day and see if I can get him back on schedule. Any other suggestions? I am really getting tired of this.[/QUOTE :mad::mad: I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOUR TITLE!!!!. WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO BECOME A DOG OWNER, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE BAD!!!!! The best thing for Baxter is for you to give him away. I cannot imagine any normal person saying what you stated in your title!!!! Please, give him to someone who will love him and be patient with him!!!!!!!!!!! He deserves better!!!!!!! |

Noooo, I didn't!!! It still makes me angry that someone can say that about a helpless animal. I hope her puppy is ok. Thanks for the heads up. I'll definately check the dates before responding, in the future. |
Awe We had miniture poms for years before we got our first yorkie I think the difference in energy is this...both our poms for about an hour every night ran and i do mean ran around and around the inside of the house lol no wonder they were good sleepers when the time came...Laddy on the other hand loves to play but in the evenings if we let him would just lay beside us and sleep so......... you might try this.....get a fisherprice or similar babies first remote control car...almost indestructable and our furbaby loves to chase and tackle it. When they let go off you go with it again and you dont have to move off the sofa;). We keep Laddy in his crate at night next to our bed and he is now 15 weeks old and sleeps through the night...gl We know you still love that baby who wouldnt:rolleyes: |
