I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Have you seen this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...d-treats.html? There are probably some cake recipes, and I know if you do a search you can find them. Remember you can take any human recipe and convert it to a dog recipe by doing certain things. When it calls for flour use whole wheat, or even oatmeal. Eggs are great, but don't use salt, sugar or fats. Replace fats with applesauce. Remember dogs don't have the "sweet tooth" humans have, and it's not necessary for the product to taste good to you in order for you dog to like it. Calf liver boiled and pulverized in a food processor is a healthy and popular flavoring for dog treats. Other flavoring that can be used is a small amount of garlic. Garlic has gotten a bad rep, but in small amounts it's safe and dogs love it. Garlic has been grouped with onions because they are related, and onions are still a big no, no. Cheese is another popular ingredient, and Parmesan cheese is great because it adds lots of flavor with little fat. Your dog has few "taste" buds and actually tastes his food through smelling it, so as long as it smells good, he'll like it. If your dog isn't watching his weight, peanut butter can be added as well, and many different fruits, and vegetables such as carrots.
