5000.00 for a yorkie.. omg, I almost passed out I was walking Lola when I came across a neighbor walking her baby yorkie. Her dog was SO tiny (she said 1.5 lbs at 6 months). She told me that she paid 5000.00 for it because she wanted to make sure that it was small. When she told me where she got it from I felt even worse. She got it from a pet store (broker) in Miami. The puppy has a hernia that they have to operate. This is so unfair to good, reputable breeders. This is why BYB will never go out of business, people willing to pay this crazy amount of money for a puppy only because they want to make sure that they have a small dog. Sorry for my rant and thanks for reading. |
Sad…but things are only worth what people will pay, and unfortunately people would rather pay for what they think they want instead of taking the time to research. |
Thats just soooo wrong! Why would anyone WANT a pup that small is beyond me, yorkies are small even at 7lbs! |
I really don't understand wanting a Yorkie under three lbs. If you want a pet that small get a mouse! Day after day you read on YT of a little one dying or having problems. It is so sad that they are breed that small and worst than anyone would want one that is that small. Tiny 4 to 5 lb Yorkies is small enough. A Yorkie 6 or 7 lbs is still small and tends to be healthier. |
yeah thats true and even good breeders know this and sell at a higher price. |
I groom 2 yorkies whom they paid $5000.00 each for them. One of them is a replacement because one died of Livershunt. Breeder gaurenteed size and color and both those promises are not holding up |
Well, she was stupid  I can't imagine wanting one to stay that small either...and to pay 5000 for one with a hernia? Most likely that poor baby will have other expensive health issues too. I hate when people keep bad breeders in business  For 5000, she could have gotten a show quality dog! Why anyone would pay $5000 for a pet quality dog is beyond me. |
I've known people who have paid up to $10,000 for a yorkie! I personally wouldn't spend over $3,000 |
That's crazy all together:eek:! I think it's so stupid how people prefer smaller Yorkies when the standard is small to begin with. My Lillybug is a whoppin' 8.4 lbs  and she's still pretty small in my eyes. People are ridiculous and make me sick, thank God for animals or I'd go nuts!:D |
im sorry but what an idiot.. and i agree with Jeri.. just get a mouse or a guinea pig if you want a 1 lber... i honestly dont get the whole facination with such tiny tiny dogs.. whenever i see one it just usually is shaking like crazy and never looks healthy (from what ive seen.. not saying all 1 pounders are unhealthy) |
Very very sad. :( My little sis just bought me a Little Pet Shop yorkie( I think that's what it is called) we should start recommending they get one if they want a small yorkie. They are only a few ounces, never need to be fed or given water, you can put them in a purse and they even play tug of war! (magnets on pup and toy rope), and when you get tired of them you can put them on a shelf. |

I have one UNDER 3 lbs. and she is healthy as can be .... NOT all of them have problems you know .... and I did not buy one on purpose that small either .... there are a lot of us on here with small ones (under 3 lbs.) ..... please don't judge all of us cause of this .... |
