We are so crazy about her .... and we took her from the Breeder because she came up to US .... she picked US .... ;) |
tinies I am a big fan of my tinies...I may sound like I am unaware of the problems, but I am not...I have found no health problems that plague the tiny any more then a 6 pounder. I do find them more prone to an accident due to people not seeing them, dropping them, improper care, falling of beds on to hard flooring...I had a 6 pounder, Clemmie fall of the couch and break her leg. I have not seen low blood sugar, evver..I firmly believe it has a genetic component, as does a number of vets I have dealt with...of course you can be careless and not feed them properly and have a sick puppy...but I sure wish breeders would stop blaming the new owner..so unfair. I read so many posts about low blood sugar and the need for the ER..it is heart breaking. I blame breeders for selling these puppies too young to uninformed pet lovers who are not instructed in care by the breeder..I blame poor genetics also... |

there are many breeders who dont care about their puppies and only care about the money. My baby for example, i paid less than 1000, but i had to take her to the ER the same night i got her for low blood sugar and seizures. I was one of those "uneducated" yorkie owners and was told untruthful things. This is a half and half type of situation. Low breeders who breed for money and not the breed and buyers/owners who dont take the time to educate theirselves or want yorkies/puppies for status symbols. PLAIN AND SIMPLE! :] There are always two ends to a stick. No offense to those that have tiny adult yorkies. i have a tiny and didnt know she was going to be that way. Most yorkies i've ever seen are the 6-8 lbs. So her being tiny raised a lot of alarms for me. No offense to breeders who breed for the breed and have tiny yorkie babies. You never know what you are going to get. Humans are the same way. |
Whenever I get into a conversation with someone about animals, I always tell them about YT and suggest they look for similar sites for their breed...People need to be more educated and discussions over the internet is a start...It might just help someone too...! |
That poor puppy is going to have to fight to get through surgery if he's so small! And I don't blame people for having small Yorkies, some turn out smaller - like Scooter - but he was from a good breeder, so he was the same price as his brothers and sisters, they didn't jack the price up just because they could. |
I specifically looked for a tiny(under 4 lbs). I adore my girls but I did have to explain to my SIL why I would never breed them. My SIL told me she saw a teacup yorkie for sale but it was a girl, if it was a boy she said she would have got it so she could breed hers and mine to get puppies. I smiled and shook my head and told her that no, Talula would never be bred. She looked shocked. Even Lola who is just a tad bit bigger than her sister(but still smaller than my chi) is not a safe size for having puppies. I tried to explain about c sections and backgrounds, hereditary lines, etc. I think people around here think that an expensive cute dog means you need to breed it to make money :thumbdown. My littles are PETS and my companions, to me they are my "girls". Just this past week I explained to my father that just because a dog doesn't shed doesn't mean it's groom free. Quite a bit of time goes into brushing, bathing, trimming, good quality food and hair clips. I think most people don't even tell others when they've spent thousands on their dogs. I know I don't tell anyone I know how much they cost, why would I? |

At the end of the day the market sets the price for anything you shop for. If there is perceived value...someone will pay for it, whether it's a $5000 Yorkie or a $4 cup of coffee. |

If someone is going out to look for a purse puppy of any breed that is a problem. They should buy a mouse. I would hope YT'ers would get the little ones as they tend to be informed and ask questions. If they do have problems who better than a yorkie talker to provide the best care! |
