| Hello I just joined after reading about HGE Hello to all and thank you for having so much info about HGE, our 2 year and 8 month old yorkie just recovered from a 4 day nightmare of HGE. I never heard about it before and we have had Yorkies for about 20 years. Thanks to Yorkietalk forums I have learned a great deal about HGE. Best Regards, M. Jenkins |

| Hge Hemorrhagic Gastro Enteritis I have read it is up in the air as to how it occurs..diet, stress, virus, bacteria.. I have had a few get it...at the first sign of a loose stool, I give diaherra meds, boiled chicken/rice and rest them...I have been lucky, never needed the ER vet..but know many who have and ER visits to save their pet. I noticed some of mine would get it if I allowed them to vary from their diet..or eat something rich, fatty...and after talking to a holistic vet I decided to feed all my Yorkies from puppyhood a variety of foods in the diet...now, if they eat something different it does not effect them...I have Yorkies who can eat a chili dog now and not have a loose stool..years previous it would have meant serious upsets..and lots o barfing.. Although, I did not advocate feeding a Yorkie chili dogs!!! |

| My Lady just had HGE on Memorial Day. It is very scary to deal with because they go downhill so quickly. A little upset tummy turns into a life threatening emergency within hours. It's important for everyone to know the signs as toy breeds are prone to it. Here is an article about HGE: Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE) |

| Welcome to you and your babies! Thanks for the information on HGE. I always like to read through health articles so I keep watch for signs.
