Baxter does. I cannot (and don't anyway) have just 1 on my lap. Baxter gets jealous EVEN if he is on my lap. Chloe isn't allowed up there-only him (in his little mind). He will get closer, and closer, and closer to my face. He is VERY JEALOUS-VERY! |
I have the same problem, but what I do if I give a bone to one I give it to the other, when I buy a toy I buy two, on my lap I carry both at the same time and hug and kiss both of them. But they sure can get jealous! |
I agree with Stacy. I know some people do not agree that Yorkies are pack animals and do not need the organization, but those people never lived with a pack of Yorkies. A human always needs to be the Grand Alpha, especially if you breed or sell a couple of pack members. They become disorganized and confused and it is really hard on them. I also saw this with the wild dogs in Africa...If the human is the constant and the Grand Alpha, the pack still has some structure and they fight less. These Yorkies get our numbers really quickly and are the masters at manipulation. But, hey, that is their personalities and why we luv 'em..The top dog needs to be recognized as such and treated with the respect that the other dogs treat that leader. First treat, first pet, first out the door and so on. JMHO |
Both at the same time Artie my male is a year and a half, wants to kiss me when he wants to and will make it very obvious by just crawling up and doing it. He's not too much of a lap dog, he's very independent. Abigail my female is only 6 months old, she is more of a lap dog, she just wants to sit on you. But if one is kissing/greeting me the other one will too. But they have never been jealous or growling/fighting with each other. They always get along fine. I think it's b/c of their age difference and personality traits, and being the opposite sex? When I went to see Abigail's Breeder for the first time, her and Artie were inseperable then. We came back to get her the following day. Except for Abigail being in the Vet. Office for 2 days and 1 night, they have never been apart since we got her. I guess I just got lucky? :p |
I only have the one but I thought this was kinda funny.....and sort of related. When I kiss my husband, Samson seems to either be a little jealous or just want to be included. If we're sitting on the couch and I give my husband a kiss, Samson will come right up in our faces and try to stop us or get in on the action. |
I don't have any problems with Codie (Maltese) and Katie (Yorkie). They usually both kiss me at the same time although when they do that, sometimes I can't breath LOL |
Lacey, the 3lb youngest is my alpha dog. When it is getting toward night, she and Chloe have played together all day and will want to both get on my lap at the same time, sometimes it leads to a little growling by Lacey. I know this sounds totally crazy but when I got Lacey, Chloe was 6 months old and the breeder gave me some advice that seems to work. From the beginning I made sure I gave Chloe the first attention, treat, toy, etc. so she would not feel she was not loved. I then try to give equal attention throughout the day and at night, when Lacey gets a little boss head, I tell her no and if she throws a fit I put her in timeout for a few minutes and totally ignore her. I then explain to her why she was in timeout and that she must not fight, let her out and the three of us snuggle. Most of the time she just straightens up and flies right or she goes to bed for the night. I much prefer having two rather than one. They have each others company and when I am tired I am not guilty when Chloe brings me her toy for playtime. Of course, my hubby thinks all my lecturing doesn't mean a thing but honestly, it does. |
My two don't have any jealousy problems. My female is a follower and my male is the alpha. My female just usually lets my male have his own way. |
ahhh! Ya'll are scaring me! I am bringing a 10 week male in on my 7 month male this weekend. My husband DOES NOT think Romeo is going to adapt! I am planning on taking Romeo with me so that they can meet on other terms besides home. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me? |
Maxwell is a momma's boys but once in a while Zeus wants me and boy of boy does the barking start then...... |
Absolutely Mac always has to be first and last. He has to be petted first, kiss ed first. We Mellie get attention back come Mac for more. He has to always be on top too. If Mellie is laying on my lap then Mac has to be on my chest next thing you know I have one on Mellie on my farhead and Mac on top of my head. |

Our poor Boxer gets left out because the two little ones are allowed on laps, we have a Yorkie and a Chi, but Beowulf is too big to be a lap dog - although he tries. Pixie, our Chi, dominates her Daddy's lap and my Yorkie Piper could care less half the time. He is all about running and playing and not too big on cuddle time. I'm hoping this will change as he gets older because I want to cuddle :) |
Missy wants to be held. she will nudge your hand or put her paw on your face for you to notice her. Bobo is fine with sleeping on the recliner armn as long as your in it. but go to bed and he lays at the top of my head./ |
Thinking about adopting Tino a baby sister.. I was so interested to read all of your replies on this subject. I was thinking about adopting Tino a baby Maltese sister. I am just very concerned as Tino has been living as an "only Yorkie child" in our family and is used to 110% attention. He has just turned one year old and I think it would be a good time to think about a second pup. Please let me know what you think...especially families who have a Yorkie (male) and Maltese (female). Thanks~ :) |
