I had fun playing with some of these scammers here and there but it get's old, and really they will just move on to the next person without a second thought. If they had an ounce or moral fiber in them they wouldn't be doing this in the first place.

She got an e-mail from NancyHappyFamily@yahoo.com ....a lady(?) that was in the Netherlands or somewhere. She wanted to buy the boat. Said she had an agent here in the US that would handle the shipping and everything. I tried to tell my friend it was bogus. She didn't believe me. Well, long story short, the Nancy person sent US money orders for payment. Far too much money. She said just cash the things and wire the remainder back to her. I insisted on a physical addy to send it to. She declined, yada yada. I tried to tell my friend it was all wrong, but she still believed it was good. After all, she had the money orders in her hand. However, when she went to the bank with them she did as I advised and asked them to check the validity of them. They were cashed years ago. They had been 'washed' and sent to my friend for different amounts than the originals. I played with her for a while. Told her my friend had thought she was not serious and apologized for selling the boat to someone else. She became very indignant, because she was the type of woman whose word was her bond and how dare my friend be so unscrupulous....on and on. Well, I finally got tired of it all and told her to contact Agent so and so (my friend's name) at the FBI Office and gave her the phone number. Told her she was busted and they were coming after her. LOL No further communication. We did contact the FBI, incidentally. They were uninterested. I think my friend learned a valuable lesson with this. She did not have a computer at the time and so I was her liason. I am thankful that she now has her own computer. That way I don't have to get involved in her situations. Sometimes it is so hard not to say I TOLD YOU SO!! ain't it? | |
