| New pup barking?? We are trying to get a better understanding of why our new pup is having good nights and then bad nights. She spends the night in a small bathroom with her bed, toys, and water bowl, however, she has about three barking outbursts throughout the night which we have resisted responding to. She seems to be more content in the bathroom as opposed to the crate. Our Yorkie sleeps in the bed with us because she is older and trained. We were considering bringing the crate into the bedroom but that may upset her. I am confused because both pups get plenty of attention and exercise. Any suggestions on how to alleviate this frustrating phase?? |

| How old is the pup, and how long have you had this dog. Sometimes it takes them awhile to be away from the litter and into your routine. You might also try giving your puppy something with your scent on it like an old T shirt so they feel like you are there and they aren't alone.

| We crate trained Wrigley when we got her as a puppy. We put the crate on a nightstand next to the bed facing us. Even if your bathroom is small, it might still be a bigger space that is too much for her. I don't know how old she is, but they really need a space just big enough to be able to stand up and turn around. They really do feel secure in smaller spaces. We put a blanket and a small soft toy in the crate and Wrigley loved that! She's now 2 and sleeps in her crate and loves it. We got a 2 1/2 year old female a couple of months ago and she's trained to sleep in a crate at night and she does great too! Good luck!
