Question Of The Year!!!!!! Help! Ok here is the scoop... Background: I stud my yorkie out usually for a stud fee. Problem: I want another pup (preferably of Tino's kin). I am going to have to tell one of our "clients" this evening which payment I am going to charge being "pick of litter" or a "stud fee". So I was all gun~ho about charging the pup becuase the dam's owner was leaning toward it not to mention I need another yorkie in my life~haha. My boyfriend, however, (who I live with) was not thrilled about the idea. Now it is crunch time and I need to make a decision. The boyfriend said "Do what you want, I just don't think we need another animal in the house right now":thumbdown Question: What does that mean?!??! What should I do, I am so tempted and I am unsure if I do go for it if he will be PO'ed or what? I know that there are things that I can use the money for but I have puppy fever again?!?! Oh what to do? Help me YT'ers! Side Note: My mother told me to save the money and buy the toy I want instead (Jet Ski) <---which I have been saving for. (however my mother is a hypocrit because she just had the same issue with my father and she ended up getting Jack a Pom-a-poo) HELP HELP HELP!!!!:animal-pa Puppy or Money? Ahhh! |
My vote ... PUPPY!!! :D |
Puppy!!!! |
If he gets PO'd, I'm betting he'll get over it when that ball of fuzz and love comes home  As long as you can afford to care for and have the time, I'd go with the puppy! |
Yeah, he'll probably get PO'ed. But I'm sure that as soon as he holds the little bundle in his arms he'll forget all about it. :) That's usually how it works, anyway haha. |

HAHA!! I can definately afford another fuzzy love in my life. Thats whats making this such a hard decision! I have three votes for yes so far! Ahhhhh! Oh god the puppy fever is getting worse!!!! PS...I do have 3 other clients for this summer thus far (that I would charge a stud fee) so that would justify it wouldn't it?? LOL! Im dieing for another furkid! PSS Did I mention I have 3 cats + Tino...so if I got another furbaby it would make 5 furry babies in the house. Am I crazy???? |
LOL everyone on here is gonna tell you to go for the pup! Just do it! He'll get over it! :p ;) |
Puppy! Puppy! Puppy! Their love and devotion outway ANYTHING else!! |

HAHA! If they do I should print this out if he gets mad and tell him I ran a vote and Majority rules! |
1 Attachment(s) Doesn't this face scream "I want a playmate"?;) |
Coming from an old lady who has been married 27 years..... I would talk to the BF and come to a mutual decision. Sometimes you have to sacrafice an immediate "I WANT" for the good of a relationship. I would take the $$. |
This really isn't the place to ask that question because we are all going to say "BUY THAT PRECIOUS PUPPY". See, we are no help! :D |
Well I have to inerject my story (not trying to hijack)- I begged begged begged my hubby for a yorkie and for months I got "no" "no" no." Finally, he got sick of me begging and said "Do what you want but I won't be happy about it." Oh blah blah I brought Ranger home and he was IN LOVE in moments. He adores him now. I say go for it. How can he not love him??????? :p |
Puppy!!! You could always send your boyfriend over to my house and have my dh explain to him about the love of Yorkies ;) lol! If this is being to nosey then just ignore me ;) lol! Have you guys been together long? Is it your house or his? I personally would take these factors into consideration if I were you. If it is your house, not the both of your's together and since your not married yet, I would probably make the decision that I wanted to. ;) But if you guys are very serious and have future plans i.e. marraige and it is both of your's home, then I would seriously take his thoughts into consideration. Even though he should always vote for another puppy, lol! :) HTH! Please don't take me as being rude, just some food for thought ;) :) |

"Do what you want, 'cause you know you're going to anyway" BTW, I love having two Yorkies. They entertain each other and I don't feel so bad leaving them home when I have to go somewhere. When Peanut was here by himself, I always felt like he was lonely. I guess maybe your kitties keep your baby company though. I wish you the best in your decision, but I honestly think if you want another Yorkie, you should have one. |

Actually very helpful. We have been together for 3 1/2 years. The house is both of ours (but in my name). We share bills with the exception of vet bills (i pay for those). We will most likely get married one day, it has been discussed.:p He is absolutely in love with Tino, our little furbaby, and is always laying on the floor playing with him. He did NOT want tino at all, may I add, and when he saw him he fell instantly head over heals in love with him. So I don't know how to read this situation. I know he will love Tino's offspring. He jokes about the name I always said I'd give a neww puppy if I got one. Which would be "Onit" <---Tino backwords becuase it would be his son. (I am corny I know) Hmmmmm.....This is a tough one! |
Melissa, I can't tell if I'm the first guy to respond or not but from the usernames I see, I think I am. So let me give you a guy's take on it. OK, he says he doesn't think you need another animal in the house right now. Fine, find out why he feels this way. Does he feel like it will be more work on him? Does he feel that it will take more time and attention away from him? Does he just feel you don't have enough lovin' to go around with a new puppy in the house? Just try to better understand why he feels this way. I'm not saying to give in to him; only to try and understand his motivation a little better and take it into account. Just don't dismiss it. In the end, let him know that going along with you on this one even if he doesn't agree, maybe especially if he doesn't agree, is a great way to build up points in the old emotional bank account and that you'll remember the next time he does something stupid or thoughtless. You know we guys are an inherently stupid lot that are constantly doing and saying things that get us into hot water with the ladies in our lives and are in constant need of bailing out and forgiveness. Jokingly remind him of this and let him know, within reason, you'll be a little more forgiving when he has his next bout of male pattern stupidity and I'll bet him comes right around. If not, well, there's absolutely no hope for him at all and there's nothing whatsoever I can do for him or you. Hopefully this voice of male wisdom and experience will help you get through to him. - Byron |
My husband finally gave in and said OK do whatever you want. I did and now I have a puppy that my husband of 20 years is not crazt about. He tolerates him and occasionally plays with him but not much. I wish I hadn't done it because it has caused much stress. Good luck whatever you decide. |

Awesome ADVICE!!!!! Ok I just called him and brought up those valid points and asked him why he felt the way he did. Here was the convo minus some side things that aren't relevant: Melissa: "Why do you feel this way" Nic: "Becuase" Melissa: "Becuase why?" Nic: "I don't know why" Melissa: "There must be a reason" Nic: Silent* Melissa: "I respect your opinion and I want you to be on board with me if I decide to go this way, so I would like to know why you have reservations" Nic: "It's alot of responsibility and investment to have another animal" Melissa: "Understandable. I have already thought about this and am willing to continue taking on full reponsibility of the animals if I decide to go through with this" Nic: "Well babe, if that is what you truley want than I will not have a problem with it. I just want to make sure that you understand what your doing. I am on board if this is what you decide, thank you for asking me though." AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! !!!!!! I think I am getting a PUPPY!!!!:thumbup: |
