| Day Lilies, Pine Bark, etc Question My 9 week old puppy just insists on picking up the dead day lilies that fall on the ground. We also have pine bark nuggets which she gets & likes to chew on till I get it from her. I'm sure everybody has some of these & other yard items that are on the ground. Will this hurt her if she eats it? |

| I'm not sure if it will hurt them or not. I'm bumping this for you so you might be able to get an answer.

| I wouldn't let her eat that stuff. She could choke and I'm pretty sure it's not good for her. Could cause tummy problems. Good luck with your puppy - they are such little scavengers at that age.

| I would get rid of the day lillies if they are in her yard. I found this: Easter Lilies: Some members of the Lilly family of plants can result in serious illness in cats. Specifically, Easter Lilies, tiger lilies, Japanese show lilies, rubrum lilies, many lily hybrids and day lilies have been known to cause kidney failure. Toxic Foods and Plants for Dogs The pine bark mulch is considered non-toxic. The thing is that they can choke on it and I'm certain it wouldn't be healthy for their intestines.

| Well, I didn't know about the lillies, but I knew about the mushrooms. I had a heck of a time getting them the first year I had Kacee. The weather was just perfect for them to pop up very quickly and I was continually searching the yard so I could beat her to them. Lo and behold she found one I didn't see that came up in one of my decorative glass clumps. There she was with it in her mouth and I'm standing there about to have a heart attack. I didn't dare chase her. (She was just about 4 or 5 mos old.) So I started screaming and took off running and she dropped it and chased me!
