| Getting ready for the new puppy...and need some help! The new puppy comes home on Friday and we are finishing up getting ready! We have new beds for both him and Champ, tons of new toys, and all the other puppy necessities. BUT what I was wondering is would it be better to go ahead and put out the new beds and everything a couple days before he comes home so Champ can get used to them OR should we wait until we bring the puppy home? I don't want Champ to think the only reason he is getting the new stuff is because of the puppy, but I also don't want him to become possesive over the new stuff either! PLEASE HELP! Oh and when I was cleaning the playpen outside today Champ was going crazy trying to come outside...he knows somethings going on! We ask him "Where's Rowdy?" and he starts looking around he doesn't understand who Rowdy is...I'm just trying to get him used to the name. |

| If you can, put the beds out. But, put something with the puppy's scent in the bed so he knows it is not his, and gets used to the scents of the new puppy. When the puppy comes treat him the same as you always do. Make sure you treat him and the puppy the same. Good Luck with the new pup.

| OK that's a good idea! I gave the breeder a receiving blanket to put in his bed a couple weeks ago to get the scent on it for when he comes home, but I think i might switch it out with another one when I go by there on my way home tomorrow! Thanks! |
