I know of a homeopathy vet in NJ I have seen in the past. His name is Dr Dym and I know hes not at the same practice he used to be in but i heard he has moved to Marlton, NJ right on Rt 73.

my brother had a lab mix that acted the same way...and sorry to say the older she got the worse she got..and his vet told him that it was most likely the result of inbreeding..that inbreeding almost always alters their mental state even in their fine on the outside..

I would go talk to an experienced trainer with her. I see that is really your only option and this is something that CAN be worked with. It may take a LOT of time and a TON of pateince. But working regularly with a trainer will help a whole lot.

I'm so sorry about Jersey I would say don't put her down, maybe hire someone that has experience with problems she has or if you are going to rehome her explain to the new owners her issues, and don't rehome to a home with children since she might bite. Also maybe try to rehome to someone that has a lot of experience with it, i feel so bad

Hi Guys. Thanks for all your posts. At this point I have no intentions on trying to rehome her and I have no intentions of putting her down. She does not like strangers but usually with us she is a love. It's just she snaps. I posted on my rescue forum and had someone say that she's spoiled and I need to take control of the little monster but she's not a monster and she is not spoiled. I mean yes to a point all my girls are spoiled but with love. I've never allowed them to be nippy or nasty and ALL of them but Jersey are excellent with strangers as well as kids and that even includes Noel who was beaten. It hurts me that I cannot figure this out. I do rescue. I should know how to help her and that hurts me. I had Bella from 5 weeks and near death. She was very alpha but I knew how to deal with it and correct it and keep it under control. I had Noel who was beaten and it took three years before she'd allow a stranger to approach yet we got through it and she is so much better then the vet ever thought she'd be. I agree to a point with some that age and her trying to establish her role in the pack does play a small part and I know how to deal with that and correct it. It's the other issues I do not know what to do about. In the past month she has gotten very bad. I truly believe that this is inbreeding that has caused this. I truly believe there is something a mis in her brain. I do believe that to some degee her early weeks with the breeder played a role in how she was when we brought her home but she was only 10 weeks when I got her and she came out of how she was with love she improved and is through that but something from the beginning was not right with her but I could not put my finger on it. I'm going to have a good check up done again with the vet because I'm truly convinced that this is maybe a chemical imbalance or something not right in her brain. The only other symptom she has which may or may not be related is she gets a lot of black sludge in her ears. NONE of my others get this. Jersey's ears get a terrible build up of black sludgy wax. I mean I have to dig out black every week. I had them checked twice even for mites even though I knew she would not have them and nothing came back. The vet said it's allergy related yet she has no other symptoms. I went through 10 q tips and ear cleaner and each q tip had globs of black sludge on them and it's not becaue I'm lax in cleaning them. I can clean them and the next day there is black sludge again. a home without other dogs might be the best answer down the road..

Having just read your post, and having been involved in rescue for years, my advise would be to trust your instincts. Somehow, in most cases, our experience can help us get to the root of the problem. I have dealt with many issues, as I am sure you have, that just take some thinking and mulling over and in most cases, we find the solution.

Hugs & Good Luck!

i can't give you any tips really on her attitude. it seems like you've done a lot already for her in trying to figure this out. I can only suggest a veterinary behaviorist or a holistic vet. I've been to Dr. Buchoff in West Paterson, NJ. He is an excellent vet, used to be president of the vhama and had that pet stop tv show on channel 12.

i do agree that she has allergies. allergies can only show up as one symptom like ear problems or paw licking or itchy skin. Allergies do not have to show up in combination. I would try to get her allergies under control since i guess there might be a possible connection to her aggression issues. has she always had this problem with her ears? is it a constant thing or is it seasonal? What kind of food is she eating?

Yes, she's always had the ear thing. I had them checked atleast three times for mites (Thinking that maybe they were dormant from the breeder) but she is clean. She is eating Chicken Soup For the Dog Lover's Soul. Previoulsy I had them all on Nutro Max. I also boil Chicken, carrots and brown rice. Thanks for the info. Elaine

to go with treating the allergies maybe you could try a grain free food or a rare protein food to see if it helps. it may be a simple food allergy.

Oh, forgot to add this to my other post. At the hospital where i work we have a veterinary behaviorist and she is Excellent! She helped me with Morgan and Mylie's anxiety issues.

What would be a good grain free food? I had them on Nutro Max. Neither of them have Wheat or Corn. My others do fine with the Chicken Soup and I put them on it only because it's Holistic and had a very high rating. With all the trouble with pet foods I'm very careful now afraid they will get a bad food. Thanks. Elaine

Nutromax has wheat in it and corn:
Chicken Meal, Wheat Flour, Ground Whole Wheat, Corn Gluten Meal, Rice Bran, Poultry Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Ground Rice, Chicken, Natural Flavors, Sodium Bicarbonate, Calcium Carbonate, Monosodium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Yeast Culture, L-Lysine, Salt, Choline Chloride, Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron Oxide, Dried Kelp, Lecithin, Garlic Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (source of Vitamin C), Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Copper Proteinate, Niacin, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Riboflavin (source of Vitamin B2), Thiamine Mononitrate (source of Vitamin B1), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of Vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (source of Vitamin K activity).

I feed innova evo which is grain free and all my dogs do well on it. One of my girls had lost most of her hair on a grain dog food. All of her hair is back now
