| I am worried and nervous.... So I just made an appt. for Tsubi to be spayed next month and she will be 6 months by then. She is a little piggy and loves to eat..She is super healthy and active. The reason that worries me is because she is still 2.2lb. I am nervous since she is so little and she has been 2.2lb for like a month now and doesn't seem to gain any weight even though she eats like a piggy..The vet said she will be fine but i am so worried and nervous. Anyone had experience with their babies being that small when they got spayed?

| aww...little Tsubi is growing up! I know you've got to be worried. Be sure to do all bloodwork beforehand and make sure your vet is very experienced with small dogs. I'm sure she'll be fine. Anytime our dogs have to be put under it's scary though. I'm surprised she isn't growing at all, especially from 4-5 months. I know Lacy seemed to do a LOT of growing during that time. But maybe she's just destined to be a tiny little girl

| I am actually taking her to the vet that did the surgery on both Tumi and Gracie before. She is excellent. But at least Tumi and Gracie were 3lb-4lb range when they got spayed. I picked them up the same day and they were totally back to normal selves by the next day. I am just worried because Tsubi is so little. I am actually taking her to Virginia to have it done since that was the vet that i trust and she is one of the best in the country. And I am gonna have all the testing done before. I am also gonna have extra IV and extra everything like i did with my other two girls. I just want her to be safe and ok. Telling you..my little monsters make me have panic attacks..gotta love my stinkers!

| If it makes you feel any better, I've heard of hamsters being spayed with no problems and they are a lot smaller than yorkies.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sounds like you are doing everything possible to ensure a safe procedure. I know it is so scary. Roxie has to be spayed in a couple of weeks but she is 4 lbs. I had the blood work today and the vet said they will take every precaution. I will keep Tsubi in my prayers.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | thoughts are with you we will keep her in our thoughts and prayers... Its nice you have a relationship with your vet. I am sure if she felt the risk was too great she would just have you wait it out. Georgia was 3 lbs when we did hers and I was on pins and needles too.... what vet in VA do you go to BTW...could you pm me their contact and name? thanks |
