| Duke's first day alone I'm just so nervous and worrying about Duke being home all alone for the first time in our new apartment. He's been alone before but we recent moved and he is still adjusting to the noises and what not.... I gated him off and have his food, water, pad, toys and bed for him but still worrying since he barks at all the new noises now. I won't be home until 5:30PM so that's a whole 9 hrs on his own.

| Thanks for all the comforting understanding and words... I can't wait to go home to check in on him. I used to leave the TV on for him in the old apartment so he had some noise, I left my ipod at home for him today but I went out during my lunch and bought a small radio for him I figured that hearing some noise will comfort him a little than complete silence then be startled by outside noises. Yorkies are definitely different and it breaks my heart to have to leave him at home alone, our family is further away and everyone works so no one can really check on him during the day for me.

| I feel for you. I worked from home up until almost 2 yrs ago. My boss decided I needed to work from the office and just about killed me. I'm sure he has done fine and he will be thrilled to see you when you walk thru the door!

| Aww, best of luck to Duke! My bf and I used to have to leave our pups home for 8 or 9 hours about 4 days a week, and I couldn't stand it! I switched my job so I could see my dogs more and my BF less! LOL! I leave the tv on for my dogs when I leave too, I know it makes a difference to them. They always settle down more when the tv is on because it is more like when we are at home.

| Is there any way you can go home on your lunch hour? That would help you feel better, and also your Yorkie. He wil be ok, and probably will be sleeping. HE will be very excited and happy once he sees you!

| Oh boy was he happy to see me home!!! He didn't escape from where I gated him off surprisingly being that he is known to do that, let's see how long that lasts. I noticed though that he didn't go either #1 or #2 all day, he usually does his business a few times a day. I took him for a walk and he did both but I guess he was nervous alone or was sleeping the whole time. I'm glad it went well... I can't come home for lunch b/c it's a 30minute commute for me depending on the train coming on time so I might be late back to work. Thanks everyone for your comments...

I'm glad it went ok - it's going to take him some time to adjust the the new place I agree - it took my girls quite a while but my neighbors said they ONLY bark when I'm home - go figure... maybe he''ll be the same way ? | |
