| getting her spayed is driving me nuts! i know i keep complaining and asking a million questions but i feel so bad! she ate today and drank and peed and seems to be doing well but that stupid e collar makes me feel so sadddd shes starting to learn how to maneuver around with it but she looks so sad and! she was licking at her leg incessantly last night and i woke up and found hair on her blanket, which im assuming is from the licking she keeps trying to get at the stitches and trying to scratch them with her back legs the e collar is stopping her from getting to them but the scratching i dont know about im thinking the best thing to do is just leave it on her until the stitches are out Last edited by mariey223; 07-04-2008 at 03:54 PM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Have you tried putting a baby onsie on her. I did that when CAli was spayed and she seemed so much more comfortable. I have to get Roxie spayed in a month or so and I am not looking forward to it. Glad your baby is done and recovering.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | As it starts to heal it tends to feel tender and itchy so that is why it's bothering her so much. If she is bothering it then I suggest leaving the e-collar on until her sutures are removed.

| i wish i knew about the laser spay or the inside stitches ! i wouldve for sure gotten them then. my vet told me not to put on the onesie because he said "if she wants to get to it she'll get to it and i want air getting to the stitches so keep it free of clothes and clean" |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | It will stop soon...usually the first day or so it bothers them...after that they forget about it. I was fortunate both times I never had any problems and didn't have to do the e-collar or onsies.

| Wow till the 15th?? my baby had her stitched removed on the 7h day. The area should heal up really fast... maybe in a few days it wont be bothering her anymore and you could remove it. I had her in a onsie the first two nights and nakey during the day while i was with her. She only tried to lick the wound a few times on the first day. By the 4th or 5th day she didnt even know there was anything on her tummy. They look so miserable in the collar.. I just kept her with me at all times the first 2 days. |

| Aww… poor baby. That does seem like a long time to keep the collar on, but if she is trying to get at the stitches that much your right to keep it on.

| abby got spayed on Tuesday. I brought her home Wednesday. The vet told me that they didnt put the cllar on her cuz she didnt pick at the stitches. I don't think they use ecollars anyway. Well she hasnt really picked at them at all. I bought her onesies just in case but took it off as of last nite. She doenst really pick at them. The stitches are dissolvable so I don't know if that has anything to do with them not itching. I also think the stitches are inside. She doesn't even have any redness anymore since yesterday night. Im not too sure about keeping the collar on her for so long. Poor baby she must b sick of it. Good luck and I'm glad she's healing up nicely |
