| Partis come from Yorkies, from American lines, I believe. They have no set color pattern or standard. Biewers come from German Yorkshire lines, and have a standard. Biewers also do not have their tails docked.

| Good Reply MaryKay.. I would also add that Parti Yorkies can be registered with AKC where as the Biewer Yorkies can not. If you like to show your dog, neither dog can compete in the AKC shows but I BELIEVE both are able to show in other areas. I know Biewers can be shown under IABC, NAKC and ARBA, and I believe Partis can show under IABC, not sure about the others ?? maybe someone else can help out there.. -Diana

with the pie bald gene the biewer is a separate breed with standards for colors especially white with the pie bald gene sound similar with the pie bald gene but there are no standards for the parti only the biewer biewers keep their tails

| Thank you for the descriptions. I also had read the information from other sites and was still confused. The Briewers are defiantly pretty dogs. Are there member here with Parti yorkies?

| Biewers and Parti's all began the same way, from Standard colored yorkies who also carried recessive spotting genes. Both parents must carry these recessive genes in order for the tri color coat to appear. If one parent carries the spotting gene and the other parent does not, the pups will be traditional colored with maybe some white on the chest, chin and toes (some pups would be standard yorkies and some would be parti gene carriers that look like standard yorkies). Until a few years ago, AKC parti's were not allowed to be registered with AKC but after numerous litters, parents, grandparents were DNA'd by 2 breeders (proving the off colored parti pups were the product of their standard colored parents), AKC allowed this color to be registered. Biewers, (if I recall) came about the same way, only the German registry that they came from, would not allow the off colored (biewer) dogs to be registered, thus the Biewers began their own club and breed. One of my AKC registered parti guys, is pictured in my Avatar.
