| I comb my baby every night. But I cannot seem to get rid of the mats completely. It's like I finally got all of them out but by the next night they are back with avengence! He has very fine cottony hair but it is super thick... I've tried a doggy spray conditioner but that does not help with the mats. As you can see from his picture he has fairly short hair for a yorkie, but then again he is only 13 weeks old... :P Anyone got any ideas that will help remove and keep the mats at bay??!! Many thanks in advance. :-)

| I'm not much help. Meeko has cottony coat too. It was a lot of work combing him out so much, so I trimmed it after a while. I use to comb him threw with a flew comb. Just grab the root of the mat and hold it tight so your baby doesn't feel the pulling. The only thing I can suggest is a detangle spray. Hopefully someone else can give you some suggestions. Good luck!

| That's what I use - a flea comb. Works great except for constantly finding mats. I guess I'll have to look for some different conditioner/detangling spray. I eventually want him to have a semi-shnouzer cut. the body buzzed, leg hair semi-short with a teddy bear face. I might just go ahead and buzz his body, as thats where the mats really like to hide. His back is straightening out as he gains weight, so that's good. I hope he ends up with a straight back, as he will look much better in that cut than w/ a humpy back. LOL

| I think Haruka loves me.. but only thing she doesn't like me about is to comb her mats.. Now I don't comb her as much (so she won't hate me...) There are mats because she wears dresses... But it is not bad as before because I cut down her hair.. (not puppy cuts) so it is easier. Many people come to me and say that her hair is so nice.... and I feel like I don't comb her enough. I think cutting down her hair definitely helped. And I cut her hair on her legs and stomach ... that are the places she gets matted..

| I have trouble with mats on Phoebe too. She is 17 weeks and I don't want to hurt her or make her hate being groomed. I didn't have this problem with Piper but I sure do with Phoebe and they are close to her skin.
