I'm not much help. Meeko has cottony coat too. It was a lot of work combing him out so much, so I trimmed it after a while. I use to comb him threw with a flew comb. Just grab the root of the mat and hold it tight so your baby doesn't feel the pulling. The only thing I can suggest is a detangle spray. Hopefully someone else can give you some suggestions.
