| ![]() I just got a new gate that I love. I got it from Lowes. I think it is called "Safety First." It is a baby gate and works so well!! It can be a pressure gate or you can mount it. I mounted mine. I love it!! I had the cheap wooden type before and had to always step over the gate or remove it completely to get to the room. But this one will swing open either way and has a lock on it so that they can't accidentally knock it open. Plus it is made so that if you want to remove the gate, you just pull it up to remove it (hinges of course will always stay in place). It would be great for the top of the stairs and is inexpensive. You might want to give it a try!! ![]()

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | ![]() It's too funny that I found this thread as we just put up a new gate last week ![]() ![]() ![]() Tatum wasn't too sure about it at first and wouldn't go through it AT ALL for the first 2 days or so (she was scared as always!), but after watching her big brother hop through it like he was part of the circus ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() This is the gate I'll be using. Got it at Walmart. Clear plastic, no place for them to get their paws in to climb. 30 1/2 inches tall, can be mounted or tension mounted with a door that opens. Walmart.com : The First Years All Clear Plastic Swing Gate : Health & Safety |

| ![]() I LOVE your video of your girls climbing over and going under the gate... When I first adopted Franklin I gated him in the kitchen to come home that day and find him in the living room playing tug of war with a dog toy and one of my other dogs...I never gated him again after that...

| ![]() I am glad I read this thread. I just ordered THIS Evenflo 1196C - Wide Spaces Swing Gate one. I use an x-pen opened out across theBIG archway from my entryway into my living room. It keeps all of the babies except for Ladybug and Tilly out of the living room where my teddy bear collection resides (we never use the living room, our time is spent in the family room) BUT with this setup, whenever the doorbell rings all 6 of them run to the door and I have a hard time opening it without them trying to run out. I have been using a babygate between my front door and the screen door, but becaus eI am short I have a hard time stepping over it. I can kill two birds with one stone with this new gate. I can place it all the way across the other end of my entryway and they cannot get into the living room OR to the front door. And I doubt my monkey Rainbow can climb this one.. Here is a picture of her at the Kansas City meetup.

I have one climber, Scampers. He can't jump over, he has to climb over it. Expens are no problem for him and the wooden one I had he would climb over in seconds. He hasn't been able to climb this last one though that I just got, I am pleased how well it is working but I will definately keep this gate in mind in case it doesn't work out. Thanks for the link!! Mine does have the same handle as this one, and I just love that feature. It makes it so much easier to lock and unlock it and open it.

| ![]() I bought all of my gates from Target. The first two were in the baby section. They were the extra tall because I have one dog that will jump. They stay up with tension and have a gate you can open to walk through. Much better than trying to step over, as I seem to catch my foot on the puppies' ex pen. I have just about killed myself and any puppies that were directly under me when trying to get over the 2 foot expen. The third gate I have not used yet. It was on-line in the pet section. It is the one with a gate for people and a smaller gate for pets. (Don't actually have it home yet. A friend picked it up for me, it was a return and so it was on sale.) One with a walk thru door is the way to go!!! Much safer in my opinion |

| ![]() I used a gate once. Bailey was a puppy (about 3 months old). I put the gate up to keep her in the kitchen while I went to take a nap. I shut the bedroom door because she was crying at first. When I woke up, there was no crying. When I opened the bedroom door, Bailey was right there looking up at me. I couldn't figure out how she HOUDINI -ed out of the kitchen. So, I put her back in and watched from an angle as she slowly but surely climbed up it and got out again. No more gates for Bailey. |
