Haylei was $400, but I'm not sure where she was bought. She was a gift. By far the best gift I've ever received! :)

Tuffy the Maltese was $500 from a local breeder who was nice but not very educated in breeding so Tuffy has some health issues.

Pixie the Yorkie was $1200 from a local show breeder and I've not had any problems with her (except a bug she caught at the vets)

We were very forunate with our two girls...Magic was a gift from my aunt after her first litter of yorkies...we quickly found out you can't have just one, so we found Sailor from a local breeder about an hour away who was having her last litter, we paid $700 for her...they are so worth whatever you pay for them...they give you that much love and more!!!

Wow I guess I got a great deal! Miko was $600.00, from a breeder about an hour away from me. He was so worth it, a year ago when I got him my husband thought that $600 was alot. I see the prices now and I'm like WOW!
They are so worth it no matter what price!!!!

Not true... We paid $1000 for Bailey and $1850 for our dogue de bordeaux (although his breed is so rare, you can't find one for much cheaper) They were both bought as show potential's.

I will clarify. I wasn't referring to "show" quality dogs. I was talking about large dogs that are everyday house pets. My cousin just bought a black Lab from a breeder and he paid $250 for him. However, there are some large dogs (not show quality - just house pets) that do sell for a lot of money (my co-worker's son bought a German Shepherd for $1,500) but I don't see that expensive price too often.

Yea, I guess it depends on the breed and where you're located. I live in Ca (the land of the ridiculously overpriced EVERYTHING) and constantly am seeing ads in the paper for $1500 gsd's & rottweilers.

I bought Bell from a local person, and 2 1/2 years ago I paid $500.00 It was a deal and a half..

LoveMyBabies - Which town did your Boston breeder live in? I heard some good things about a breeder in Bedford, Mass where I will be visiting soon :)

I got Lacy from a breeder in Perris, CA for $1200. I got Cruz from my groomer, who also breeds yorkies for $600.

I live in PA and Tiah is from IL. A dear friend of my Mom's bought my Mom one as a gift (Tiah's sister). I paid $650 for Tiah (my Mom drove out and got them). I paid $150 for Sampson (Rotty/Pitt mix) from the animal shelter. Thunder (white shephard) was free. Hunter (Westie) was $250.
